Glamis is a state of mind
I can't tell you how many times I've heard someone say that. But what does it mean?
My cousin and I will joke with each other about whether we are at Glamis or in Glamis. At Glamis would mean that we were at a place, a town, an area. In Glamis implies something more. That Glamis was something more than a place. That it was a feeling or an experience or a state of mind.
Does this mean that you can be in Glamis without being at Glamis? I think so. I've been in Glamis while out working on my buggy or while out driving around in my MANX or even while hanging out with good friends from the board! While sitting around Cr500cop and BuggyGirl's pool, drining a cold Corona with GlamisChick and KennyG, Rubths and Taboo, RRo3 and Carrie, In Excess and SoCalHondaChick, and everyone else that was there I definantly felt like I was in Glamis. Good times, good conversation, good beer and good friends... Glamis, a state of mind.
Sometimes, while I'm driving down some back road I think, 'Gee, if I had the bike with me I could just head on out to Glamis.' And, just last week, I had my Tri-Z in the back of the van and even though I knew I wasn't headed to Glamis I still got shivers, I still got excited, I still got goose bumps! I had my van, packed, as it always is, ready for Glamis! I could smell the two-stroke oil from my bike... I was there!
When I saw my friend the next day I had to tell him about getting a jolt from having my bike in the back of the van. I had to share my excitement!
How does a simple place do that to a person?
Simple, Glamis isn't just a place...
Glamis is a state of mind!
