Anyone have experience with this place? A friend of mine is interested in getting her first quad. I noticed this place in the cycle trader. Cheap late model quads. Anyone have any stories about this place?
Any reccomendations of shops with used quads? I know there are a few around SD. South Bay, Alba, etc

Go to a private seller, way cheaper. The only dealings with CMC that I would do is accessories, but that is just me.

My friend doesn't have thousands in cash though. Looking to finance or use a credit card.

If that is the case, why don't they spend the extra 1-2 thousand and get a brand new one? The intrest rates will be better. I'm sure there is some promotion going on. It seems like there always is.

we looked at new ones last night. She likes the Raptor 350 best but wants enough power. Maybe a Raptor.
I just figure, like most girls, will get tired of it in a few months or never ride it enough to spend 6 or 7 K

Get her on a Suzuki LTZ400. They have more power then the 350 and the Honda 400EX. They are cheaper then the Raptor also. I also believe they are cheaper then the Raptor 350. I'm not 100% sure though. I know a lot of Girls that ride the 400's and never out grow them. There are guys that keep the Suzuki 400's.

We were at Motoworld which doesn't sell Susuki. I have told her that is a good choice. She rode one once.
I remember Alba having a deal on Z400s a while ago

You'll pay high dollar at Alba. If you want it to come with the goodies then yes go there. If you want it stock go else where. Quincey, House of Motorcycles, & Southbay Motorcycles (I think) all sell Suzuki.

Almost forgot House. I have a hook-up there. Maybe try there Thursday. Quinsey has used stuff too. And it's right down the street from me.

Most of the dealers sell used stuff, but they typically aren't much cheaper then new. They do that on purpose to sell the new ones.

That's why I was interested in this CMC. They sell bikes for like 4K. I'm sure they aren't in perfect condition. But that's quite a savings.

Not considering you can get a stock Suzuki 400 for around $5000 new.

what about the place in corona

Jan 4 2005, 11:25 AM
Stock 400 here in AZ was $5560 OTD, which seems to be about $200 less than you can get them in CA. Alba wanted about $8K for one of their 400's.

Bansh... id stay away from CMC due to the fact that they also rent ATV's. so she might be gettin a POS quad that has been rented out to every yahoo there is. so the bike might be a lemon instead of a deal.

I didnt realize Zs were 5K ish. Might be top runner right now.
I know CMC rents. I figure those are what they are selling. They even have different "conditions" from Good to Excellent condition.
I looked up that Corona place. Not much info

Bansh, All the used bikes i looked at at CMC were trashed. the girl there said they put new plastics on some of them but look at them closely, tires are worn, exhaust rusted, heavy wear on cases and frame. I went by a place in Spring valley on Grand ave, I think, and they had 3 raptors a 05 450R for $5600 and 2 KFX400s. one of the KFXs was very clean, it was an 03 and he was asking $4500, place is called truck n toys. I've seem them in the trader. he gets his from bank repo auctions, no rentals. There was also a BAAD drag banshee there. good luck

Bansh88,
Just in case you don't know, the Kawasaki and Suzuki are the exact same bikes. The color of the plastic is all that seperates them (Besides the name).

oh yeah. I saw and ad for that Truck n Toys place. It's also called ATV something now. I guess they got a lot of quads. I'm gonna check that place out.
I know about the Kawa/Suz similarities. I mentioned it to my friend. I told her about the green color. it's her favorite.

A friend bought a used Suzuki 400 from CMC for $4300 OTD plus they threw in a gas jug, gloves, and paddles. He was told the quads are from auction and are bank repos. The quad was a year old, the plastics had some wear a tear but frame was straight and it runs great.

Called for a price on ITP wheels for my sons LT80, on the phone the price was $38 each, when I got there a few days later the price was now $48 each

. China must be driving up the cost of aluminum also

. Veys down the street had the same ITP's for $37 ea.

They do have some unbeatable prices on accessories though.

I've tried to use them a few times. The one that was the final straw is: I wanted some Trail Tech lights for my YFZ450. I went in there and they had a few in a glass case. So I looked at them to see if I liked them or not. I asked if they had any for a YFZ450. They said no that they don't make one for the YFZ yet. So I said is there anything that would work with it. They said yes the generic (SP?) Yamaha ones. I said fine I'll take them. So they told me they have to order them and I'll have them in 1 week. I said great, I'm going out in 2 weeks. Well 1 1/2 months later they finally got them for me. I went to install them and they don't even come close to fitting my bike (by the way, these are the handle bar mount ones). The whole bracket is way off for being able to bolt on. It was way smaller then the top of my steering stem. So I then call Trail Tech customer support and tell them the situation and ask is there anything that they could do. I told them that I know they don't have a kit for my bike. That is when Trail Tech stopped me and asked who told me that. So I told them. They then told me they do have a kit just for the YFZ and it has the YFZ logo on the billet clamp. They've had it for a long time, so it wasn't even a new thing. Then they looked up to see if CMC was even an authorized dealer, and they weren't. So Trail Tech then sent me the correct ones for exchange for then incorrect ones. Like I said this was just the last problem I had with them. I've never gone back since then.

CMC has auction bikes just like Truck n Toys. I've seen the auction numbers and paperwork still stuck to the bikes at both places. When I was shopping for a Raptor I found that Truck n Toys ATV's were more beat up thatn CMC's. especially the wheels and plastics. I almost bought a raptor from TNT and right before I plopped the money down I took one last listen to the motor and heard what sounded like a clutch basket rattling around any time I pulled in the clutch lever. I drove away and bought from a private party instead. Beware of both places.
