OK, guys and girls, I’ve got one for you... ’04 400ex w/ 12hrs on it, loaded on a rack in the back of a pickup for transport to the dunes - in gear, parking brake (PB) set, tied down (OK, so I’m anal...) Get to the dunes, untie, shift into neutral, release the parking brake and try to roll the quad backwards, off the rack. It don’t move. After checking the shifter (it’s in neutral), I check the PB arm on the back of the swingarm, and pull it towards the back. The PB releases, and all is well and the quad rolls fine rollsmile.gif . OK, now, (finally) the question: Cable stuck? PB arm on the swingarm binding? Spring on the end of the cable not strong enough, or the wrong one (new bike, so I kinda doubt that one), something in the brake assembly sticking? Any ideas? icon_confused.gif
GMC400EX
If pb is hard to ingage then it might be getting stuck after applied (theory).
I would loosen jam nut on adjustment bolt on rear caliper, turn bolt ccw half a turn and reapply pb. loosen adjustment bolt till it gets easier to apply pb with pb still able to keep wheels brom moving.
hopes this helps

We had a similar problem with ours at first. When you release the pb make sure the little arm that comes out by the clutch when you engage it goes back in under that shroud. Usually you can just push it back into its origional position and it will release. That seems to be the easiest fix for us. Just my .02

being that the quad is still technicaly new, it may take a little while for stuff like that to break in, nevr had that problem on my 400ex i used to have, but then i took the parking brake off rrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrright after i got home from the dealer.
Astars(old)
I would say take it off, then no more problems.
I heard somewhere that it wasn't good to leave it in gear when hauling. Is that wrong?
I leave mine in neutral and tie it down real well.
