dezfan, anyone can go into the Ranger station at Glamis and tell them you are going to do a trash cleanup... they will glady give you a box of trash bags for free. And they are big, heavy duty trash bags.

Anyone really feel like setting an example.
Why not hold a clean-up at olds on saturday of T-day.
If 20-30 people grabbed bags and started collecting you'd be amazed how many others pitch in. I usually pull out a bag as our group is leaving and start walking around picking up any nearby trash - people from most neighboring "camps" usually join in right away and we leave the area around where we were cleaner than when we got there.
Just imagine the GD crew doing something like this on a big weekend to really set a good example for everyone out there.

The golf deal will not be until Jan..
I like the idea of holding a 'meeting' on a sat(11/30) like that at Olds.
Then have another one Sun (12/1). at the bottom of Comp around noon.
I will supply the truck to put all the full trash bags in and haul it to the dumpster so no one has to ride with them.

Well I will help at the next cleanup then, since I wont be going again till Dec ....

I'm in. I have a clean up in camp every day. My kids get 3 pieces of trash then wash their hands before each meal.
This ensures that nothing gets away from me and anything that blows up to our camp gets caught too.
The annual clean up is Jan 18th at the ranger station. I have made all of them so far. Maybe we could hook up at this event also. Meet at the pay station on the ranger side of the Gecko RD. That little culdesac area.

Saturday after Thanksgiving? Sounds perfect. I can't plug my blenders in down there but I'll bet I can get some hot dogs donated. Water too. Anyone know a beer distributor?
One year a couple people went to comp every Sunday and collected aluminum cans, turned them in and donated the $$$ to one of the OHV groups (a different one every time).
And yeah, I've heard that the BLM will give out trashbags for cleanups.

I think you got the cart a little before the horse there Vicki. Steve's been organizing mini-cleanups for over two years now and you should know that.
If anything FHJ picked up on Steve's idea.
Steve's clean-up has been posted on the official Glamis Cleanup site:
http://www.glamis-cleanup.org/ for some time and he's been posting cleanup dates since before there even was an ASA.
Considering that his cleanup has been in the planning for much longer I think it would be more appropriate to suggest that GD gets involved in the already planned cleanup than suggest that the organizers of that suddenly pull up the plans because of a post made two weeks before the event.

Silly me, the first time I saw anything about a cleanup at comp for 11/30 other than here was when I returned from Glamis last night and read Steve's posts from yesterday (Sunday).
I know how hard Steve works to get people involved in the mini-cleanups and would never want to steal his thunder... I just didn't realize his was set up for the date that GD.com was already talking about (as I sit here without a new ASA calendar and it's not on last year's pages).
But no matter who came up with the idea first, I still think a GD.com cleanup would be great and I'll bet we can get a few more trucks out there with Chummin's to haul those bags out. I have an old line on some donated gloves too that I'm sure I could revive. Oh, and my offer of hot dogs and water is still on the table

The worst that could happen is we'll all be done a lot sooner than expected
