FANS CAN REGISTER NOW FOR A CHANCE TO WIN FREE TICKETS

Los Angeles, CA - (December 23, 3003) - NRDC (the Natural Resources Defense Council) announced today that the Rolling Stones will perform a special free concert to raise awareness about global warming on February 6, 2003 at STAPLES Center in Los Angeles, CA.

NRDC and the Stones are staging this landmark event to turn up the heat on global warming, and spotlight opportunities that exist right now to start fixing the problem.

"The Rolling Stones' commitment will help build unprecedented support for NRDC efforts to fight global warming," said NRDC president John H. Adams. "The Rolling Stones deserve a standing ovation for putting the environment on center stage."

Fans can enter a sweepstakes to win two free tickets by completing the entry form at www.nrdcstonesconcert.org or by mailing a 3x5 index card with the entrant's name, address, telephone number and date of birth to NRDC Stones Concert, P.O. Box 15099, North Hollywood, CA 91615-5099. No donation is required to enter or win tickets.

The goal of this event is to encourage the public to learn more about global warming. Visit http://rollingstones.nrdc.org/globalwarming/ for information and to find out what you can do.

A private donor will be absorbing all expenses for this important evening. NRDC will also have a limited number of tickets as part of their fund raising efforts.

NRDC is America's leading force for the environment, making the air cleaner, our waters safer, and protecting the Earth's wild places since 1970. Backed by more than half a million members, NRDC lawyers, scientists and other specialists fight for tough safeguards, and make sure they're enforced. Global warming is the toughest environmental challenge yet, threatening the health of people, wildlife and economies around the world.

The Rolling Stones are completing the North American stretch of their critically acclaimed and sold out Licks World Tour and will launch the international leg starting in Australia on February 18 with shows to follow in Asia and Europe.

I always wanted to see the Stones, nows not my chance.

Actually, what would be funny would be for the free tickets to all be taken up by nay-sayers, rather than mindless followers of the environmental machine.

You know the type I mean -- people with picket signs and brains enough to question the rhetoric...

I just found out that KLOS, one of my favorite "morning drive" radio stations, is a strong supporter of this concert.

What a shame.

Vicki, you should try some Right Wing Wacko AM stations, Mark & Briana are starting to suck as much as Stern.

I don't blame them for buying into the whole global warming thing... many people do. Heck, every time I hear a different report I always stop and think.

What I do object to is supporting this effort without looking into the background of the co-sponsors. NRDC is no help-us-save-the-furry-animals group.

I read once that these new radical environmental extremist groups do not start by accident. When one comes out that shocks the public enough that the public starts to turn away, another one is created employing even more radical tactics. That makes the first group seem somehow more acceptible and the public embraces them, turning their back on the new group. It's done by design, not by accident.
