Voice: BLM actually made dunes mess worse
I would like to thank you (the Bureau of Land Management) personally for totally screwing up on Thanksgiving weekend. You can call this a success all you want and the people who will never see Glamis will pat you on the back. But those of us who go to Glamis know. We know what happened that weekend.
We know you closed Comp in an effort to detour the party. The party only moved to Olds and now that is trashed beyond a full weekend's cleanup.
We know you then closed Olds in another effort to detour the party. It moved to Olds road and that is now trashed beyond a weekend's cleanup.
We know you then pushed people out of the road to Olds and the party went to the Drags. The Drags are now trashed beyond a weekend's cleanup.
We know you arrested and beat duners on bunk charges that will take years to sort out and thousands of tax dollars wasted in our courts (failure to disperse and resisting arrest are not the drunk in public and DUI offenses as you made the public think were handed out).
We know you brought in hundreds of extra officers and only handed out half the fines as the previous year.
Don't you think that maybe while you were chasing the party around the dunes, you were missing the ability to spot, find, detain and arrest the people who actually caused REAL problems (i.e. drunk in public and DUI)?
Because of your "wise" decisions we the duners of Glamis and we the protectors of this public land now have a cleanup four times greater than if Comp would have been left open. It will take us at least a year to clean up this messed you helped create. Did I see you out there helping us clean this up Saturday morning?
No. What I saw was duners cleaning it up. We were cleaning up the trash that you forced in there.
We could have cleaned up Comp much faster then having to clean up Olds, the Road to Olds, Sand Highway, Comp (still a mess) and the Drags.
Again BLM, I would like to thank you for making it much tougher on the duners instead of on the real problems.
P.S. We also know the Board of Supervisors and the politicians had a hand it this as well.

Voice: The green agenda at it again with their hate for off-roaders
I want to say something to the people of this county. If you believe for one minute that Daniel Patterson and his group of anti off-roaders will come here and spend a dime to hike in the dunes, I've got a sand dune I want to sell you.
Listen Danny, stop insulting us with your twisted lies. You may think we are all country bumpkins, but you are wrong, sir. We aren't buying your lies and feel-good chatter. The off-highway vehicle community spends tens of millions of dollars every year in this county. Your so-called hikers are non-existent. And it isn't because of the off-roaders. It's because, and listen up, large groups of people do not hike the dunes!
Your statistics were regarding mountain hikers, not sand dune hikers. But hey, I'm a reasonable guy and I truly love this county. Bring on those hikers. But can you first tell me ... where have they been all these years?
Why aren't your hiker friends hiking in the Imperial Sand Dunes? I mean, you have over 32,000 acres to hike in. Why aren't you? Anyone want to guess? And no it isn't because of the OHVers. We are miles away from the closed area.
Geez, maybe, just maybe it's because VERY FEW PEOPLE ACTUALLY ENJOY HIKING IN SAND! Maybe you can tell us all how many of the "hikers" involved in your publicity stunt last year had ever actually hiked in sand dunes before that little show. Or after that little show?
Let's talk about money. Three million dollars a year? I would love for your group of rag-tag misfits to spend $3 million a year in our community. But, no, you instead rip us off for $12 million a year with your frivolous lawsuits. Tell everyone where most of that $4.5 million you mentioned is coming from. Oh, wait, that would be off-highway tax funds and the fees we pay to camp at Glamis.
Oh but, you forgot that important piece of information now didn't you? How convenient. It's about as convenient as your trumped-up lawsuits to have plant and animals listed as endangered when you don't have an ounce of proof.
Why don't you just say the truth? You hate off-road recreation and you'll do anything to ban it from the face of the earth.
