ok as most of you know I haven't ridden my bike since Thanksgiving weekend dut to an injury. But I went to the garage to start my bike today ( I didn't want to leave it sitting for too long without at least running it a little) and it wouldn't start. I was out of gear, the key and indicator lights were on, but when I pushed the start button it just went" click click click click. wouldn't turn over and woudn't start.
I'm thinking starter? or would an almost dead battery cause something like that?
I know you guys will know so, enlighten me. please.
Thanks guys

Sounds like it might be the battery. I have a charger if you want to borrow it.

I second the battery claim. If that doesn't fix it, take the solenoid off the start, clean it out and lightly spray it with some WD-40, put it all back together, and try it again.

that's kinda what I was thinking. I'll check it out tonight and let you guys know. Perry, I might take you up on that charger loan just so I can start it once every week or two just so it doesn't sit.

you can invest in the battery tender junior for like $30.00. it will keep the battery up for you. They are a pain if you let the sit for any length of time. Kind of like the Onans.
Dune Goat, WalMart sells a battery tender for under $20. It will save you money in the long run. Try it you'll like it....86

No advice from me, but i had my battery sitting since that long to, i just put it back in the other day, just to get it out of hte way, so i had to make sure it wasnt , by turning on the lights and it seemed to work.
Most likely it isn't anything that is internally. Probably is the battery. Good luck.

sometimes, loose or corroded connectors like mwbanshee said can cause that problem. That would be my first check followed by a jump start. You can jump em with jumper cables no problem.

I suspect it's connections/battery as well. Do you have a GPS or some other electronic device hardwired? If so, they can draw a small enough current even when off to drain the battery between turkey day and christmas...(don't ask how I know this...

)
Also, when you hit the start..do the indicator lights dim? If so, most likely battery.

Battery Problem...start there. I am 99.9% sure its just a dead battery or a losse connection as stated. Cold weather along with moisture will drain a battery. My .02

What about the fuse? You know there is a spare fuse. I blew mine last night on aaccident messing with some LED lights. I ly connected positive to negative for a sec when i was trying to hold it with one hand.
It got really hot then it smoked.
I fixed it though with a new fuse

Yeah i had the same problem. I charged the battery half way. I also put my petdork* on prime and it leaked out of the overflow on the bottom of the carb all over the garage. So i had to start the bike and it ran great, started easily, and the carb stoped leaking. I think it just kept flowing while it was one prime and overflowed the bowl or something, but it sounded great. Now to check the oil, coolant, and valve lash
