So where are we today as far as the RAMP gos, who do we complain to?
SailAway
I'll make a phone call today to see if I can get some sort of definitive answer, but last I checked it was still being passed between the BLM and the FWS, ironing out specific details.

The BLM is trying to stand firm against many of the things the environmental fanatics are pushing for and the FWS is trying to find a medium ground.

Our requests are mild, our demands are few. We've even shown an amazing ability to be flexible. The other side, however, is not the same. They are stridently calling for higher capacity limits, permanent closure of the temporarily closed areas, a ban of alcohol throughout the dunes and ISDRA-wide nightly curfews.

There has been a recent shift in management at the ISDRA BLM. I'll make some phone calls today and will post where our complaints would be best heard.

Thanks Vicky & mxchick23

I like to send letter and call lending support for our issue and to encourage a speedy enactment. We need to know where we stand and how to take the next steps. The focus should be removal of closures & enforcement of existing rules.

This is off the subject, but did we receive any positive mainstream press on the clean up? Showing how Duners and there family spend time on environmental restoration.

Get a clean up for the beaches and it’s all over the place, we need to improve our public image!

Sand Wizard...

They did have a write-up in the Imperial Valley Press about the clean up that was positive. Hopefully if we can get more people involved we'll end having a bigger turn out every year!! [Big Grin]

Vicki,
This is the first I've heard of Nightly Curfews. What is thier purpose for the curfews and who is pushing for them? is it the FWS, or the CBD? I'm slightly confused.
SailAway
Throttlejunkie, it's kind of a combination. The agencies (FWS, BLM, OHMVR) are under tremendous pressure to do whatever it takes to get Glamis out of the news. They take heat from the environmental industry because "they" want OHVs out of Glamis and they take heat from our proponents because we continue to look bad. Our strongest supporters face a daily onslaught of "why should we help these people" because of all the bad press we get. And they have the cost of our law enforcement to back them up.

Many people see curfews and alcohol bans as knee-jerk reactions. Public relations moves. The biggest number of problems occur at night and under the influence of alcohol. Fact? Hardly. Perception? Absolutely.

Don't expect the RAMP before June/July.
