JUST MY OPINION, but you peeps ask WAY TOO MUCH
for your rides when selling them!

cost of NEW BIKES w/ Performance package and WARRANTY:

Honda Sportrax 400EX $6299...... w/ Performance package
Honda TRX450R $6800...... w/ Performance package
Yamaha 660R Raptor - $7400...... w/ Performance package
Yamaha YFZ450 - $8400...... w/ Performance package
Suzuki QuadSport Z400 $5799 + Performance package
Kawasaki KFX700 $6500 + Performance package

Think about it the next time you are trying to recoup ALL
the money you invested in your ride! Remember, it's like
selling a car!

just my .02¢ icon_biggrin.gif

SUPERFLY
I just sold mine for 2900. what are you complaining about rolleyes.gif
GITRDONE
What too much????? icon_confused.gif And what is a performance package?I think a lot of people try to recoup the money.I'm trying to sell my bike between $7400 and $7000 I know that sound a lot but when a new bikes sells for over 5500.You always got to take in consideration the amount of TOTAL cash you have invested and what market value is, and then go from there.I think my price is fare for what your getting. But you have to find the right person to buy what your selling. What are you expecting to pay for a banshee? If you want something to rip your arms off your not going to get one cheaper than a new bike, maybe if it just has pipes on it.Just my .02 cents icon_wink.gif
SDB
Those prices quoted are way high, I for sure wouldn't pay that!
sandpugs
my man 5150tim loves his but if he was to buy another bike he'll go 4 stroke
LateNate
I’ll never even come close to recouping what’s in mine if I sell it whole. I would probably reinstall most of the stock stuff that I still have and part out all the aftermarket components/accessories.
big had
thats why I buy new...but my question is...who is actually getting these seling prices???Accessories are hard to sell...because what is on a bike was fitted to the liking of the selling owner...not necessarily the buyer....
Fireballsocal
You always put stuff up for sale at a higher price than you need and let the buyer work your way down. Decide what you think is fair, offer the seller something lower than that price and hope he meets you halfway. Not a big deal really. I laugh when I see the people that are interested in the bikes with $10,000+ in added stuff to em and people swear it's only worth $4,000. Yeah, there is depreciation but if you only want to pay $4,000 for a bike, your gonna be spending $6,000 on all the extras to get it like that other bike.
faster dad!!!
I've personaly got over $ 8,000 in mods to my bike and I think I bought it now for around $ 6,000 . And I would never sell it for less than $ 10,000. But I did try to sell it last year when the only mods were Pipes and Paddles But Know every billet part made is on it the motor is stroked to 550cc and new shocks, the electrical system is converted from a/c to d/c to run my hella 1000 hid,s and a ton more done. It all adds up and I'm sure as hell not going to give all that away for 4 grand.
Yamiboy
thats why i dont plan to sell my bike for many, many years. by that time the bike will be well ridden and i feel it will be worth the amount i put it up for. yeah if i were to sell it right now i would sell it for more but i dont plan to sell it. im building it to the way i like it and when it comes time to sell ill take some of the more expensive aftermarket parts off it and sell it seperately.

but like most if i were to buy a second bike id go with a thumper.
Mike330R
Hard for people to see just what is invested in quads sometimes.

I have a lot invested and have it up for sale at $50K, OBO icon_wink.gif

Start high right? laughing.gif

Hobbies, toys, and vehicles are NOT AN INVESTMENT. Even when people spend money on restoring a classic car, you will never get out what you put in. I have to second what Frog was trying to say. When I look at buying a new bike or quad, I always go to the Cycle Trader and then realize everyone thinks they own a pot of gold. I was able to buy new...with new paddles, new ALBA kit, and other stuff for still cheaper then some guys wanted for their 1-2 year old, equally equipped bikes. In cars, they say if you keep it in MINT condition, there's still a depreciation of 15% per year. You can't think that just because you have receipts that it justifies recouping all you put into it or even close. It's not just Banshees, it's everyone. Cars, and offraoding as a sport is an illness and a money pit. If you make the decision to get into it...accept the consequences.
SANDFANATIC
I'm selling mine right now. I don't have it in the trader, just word of mouth. I don't have to sell it. I'm only asking $4500. The lowest I'll go is $4000, so why say that price. If I do then everyone will think they can get it for $3500. If it is somebody I know personally or on this board I would offer it to them for the $4000 right out of the hole, but I still wouldn't go lower. I have some work done to it, so it's not stock. I don't think I'm being unreasonably high.
HA2
i disagree, classic cars can be an investment just like a rare baseball card or anything else rare and desired for that matter.

I completely agree.

With that said, I would never accept anything less than $2500 for my 1985 250R.

I also wouldn't accept anything less than $1500 for my Original Owner Factory Blue ATC 70. Actually, I don't think I'd even accept that. icon_biggrin.gif

Those are completely different stories than Banshee's as they have been in production for what... 17 years? Banshees are everywhere and it is very hard to separate your bike from anyone elses. Sure you might have mods that someone you know doesn't but, those mods that you threw on there were made for thousands of people and they bought them too.

Banshees are everywhere.

You just counterdicted yourself, or are you saying when you bought the 70 you paid around $4000? If you didn't your asking way too much $$$$. You need to sell that bike at a complete loss. I'm too young to know what they sold for new back then, but I imagine no more then $1000. I can get a new kids quad for cheaper then $1500.
RRon3
Just don't buy the damn bike then, you can't blame a guy for trying to recoup some of his $$$$$ rolleyes.gif

I just sold this for $6000
+2+1 a arms, +4 axle, +4 swingarm, motor work, paint, billet, chrome.
Yeah I took a hit, but I got my money's worth when I had a blast riding it.

Now I have a new 450r, lets see how much cash I can sink into this!

If I want to sell my Banshee for 10K and somebody wants to buy it what differance does it make to your green little arse.

Yes, I did contradict myself.

I have only seen one other Blue 70 (yep, I saw one out at G on November 13th of last year).

To me, it's extremely rare and it's the bike I learned how to ride on in 1983. It would take an obscene amount of cash for this thing to leave our family.

My 250R... well, I begged for that thing for 10 years. Also, it's not a Banshee that has a vast list of aftermarket parts just bolted on. It has super clean OG plastics (1985, not 2000), a custom made 6" extended swingarm and the rest is pretty much the same as most 250r's out there. Granted it's not "extremely special", but it is definitely "one of a kind". I don't regret spending one cent on that bike.

I also don't buy things to sell them.

It was just an observation! I'm in the market for 3 more new quads for
my kids, and while searching our local CycleTrader, I noticed that a LOT
of Banshee owners think very highly of their 5-7 yr old machines.

I won't spend that kind of money on a bike I have no idea of how the
original owner treated it! I don't blame a guy/gal for trying to recoup
their money spent, but damn, hello! it ain't no collector car or bike!

I like the statements earlier..what difference does it make..ask what you want..who cares..and when nobody calls..lower the price...and if nobody calls..lower the price...or say, the heck with it..I am gonna keep it...
nobody has to sell...and nobody has to buy....
