I took my 450r into a local dealer the other day and told them the problem I was having with the bike. My bike is still under factory warranty but I had to sign for a $102.00 inspection??? is this normal??? In the car industry under warranty customers arnt charged for inspections while under warranty. Whats the motivation for the bike tech to find anything wrong with the bike if he already has 1.5 labors customer pay he can flag?
Whats the motivation for the tech to really look for a problem and not just take a 20 minute road test in the dirt and say Its ok and flag for 1.5 labors and move on to something else? This is my first time taking a bike in and I'm really worried that they'll say nothing was wrong and be charged for nothing. What are some opinions out there on this subject??

Thanks

When I took my son's quad in for warranty work I had to sign for $75. They told me it wasn't a fee for me to pay, but it was for their billing. Whatever it was, I didn't have to pay. So don't worry, it's not likely you'll have to pay either.

They told me similar, $75 inspection fee that the warranty company would eat...warranty company didn't eat it, and they wanted another $75 to put the bike back together when they were done inspecting. I carried it out of the service dept. in boxes. angryfire.gif

thats against the law dave, they must put the vehicle(in this case a quad) back to the condition it was in when it was brought to them if you decline the repairs.

back to the question, it was the same way when i took my predator in for a brake concern i had. it was for their computer records purposes and told me there was no charge to me. i thought it was a little strange because im in the auto repair industry and thats not how warranty is for us.
