My cousin is looking at a Lt250R(1986) and the bike that he found does not have nuetral. The owner said that he replaced the motor a year ago because of a broken shift fork and the new motor does not carry nuetral. I wanted to know if this is correct can he add nuetral to the bike and how much would it cost.
The bike is an 86 with clean racing plastics a new seat new paddles and the owner is asking 2100. My cousin is very heisitant because of the neutral issue. If the clutch went out in the middle of the dunes he would be screwed.
Thanks for the help.

Thats BS, it should have neutral. For some reason it just won't engage it, that is a problem. My 2 cents.

Steer Clear of that one.

If you get a LT 250r get one made 88-92. They are better machines in a number of ways. The 85-86 was the first 250 quad ever made. Suzuki made later improvements that make for a MUCH better machine.

Stay away from this bike, there are plenty of LT250r's to be had at that pirce.

The fix to this problem is easy, but requires you to open the engine.
Regardless of how easy the fix is, get a newer model than that.
These were notorious for having many problems.

Yeah, what sandpusher said. Also I know the 85' parts are near impossible to find. A buddy of mine had one and it was a pain in the arse. I am pretty sure the 86 was the same way.

Thanks for the input I will make sure to stear him away from this one. If anyone out there is selling a 250 2 stroker or even a 350 four stroke let me know, he wants to keep it around 2 grand or less
