Full Version: Sand is for breakfast around here!

Sand is great for breakfast, adds a little crunch to your bacon. Then there's lunch, who hasn't BBQed burgers during a wind storm and greatly enjoyed "grit burgers?" Sand in your beer??? A way of life, I wish they sold beer with sand already in it. Can't forget dinner... undoubtedly some sand will find its way onto that juicy steak. A little extra spice... Mmmm, mmmm good! A true sand lover will enjoy sand in many other ways too. Who doesn't love the feeling of having shoes full of sand? Of course, there's always going to be sand in your ears (a lot!), sand in your pants, sand in your eyes (flush with beer), sand in your nose (spew beer out nose while laughing to flush), and you're going to eat sand (more beer). Duners also enjoy finding sand in their buggy seats, in their truck, in their motorhome, in the bottom of the tool box, in the ice chest, in the trailer, and frequently in the carpet when you get home. The uneducated might ask "where did all that sand come from?" But to the true duner, you know exactly where it came from and how it got wherever you may find it. And I don't hear you complaining about it. That's because you love the sand!

Hey Doug, you know that carpet we put out by the MH? Once we took it home and unrolled it in the AZ room and when we rolled it back up there was a pile of Glamis there that had sifted thru. Boys played with it for weeks with their little Hot Wheels rail and quads!
We sometimes talk about getting a new MH, but figure the only places we take it are full of sand and cinders,so why even bother? Rather not have to worry about how gritty or dirty it is lookin' in the middle of a trip! user posted image

DUNE DEMON, keep the faith buddy. If you really need a fix, there's always Pismo, Oregon, Utah, and Idaho, just to name a few of the other cool dunes. You could also do a night ride at Glamis. I need sand year round. I just got back from the Idaho dunes (awesome!), going to Pismo this weekend, then the Vegas sand show, then to the Oregon dunes. I don't think I have ever gotten all the sand out of my shoes.

Sanduners
There is nothing like a little sand in Mr. B's Potato Salad.
That is one of our staples at the dunes Saturday night, with Ribs and/or Chicken, (BBQed, Fried, Deep Fried (my favorite) and Corn on the Cob.
My wife makes it at home but something is always missing... No crunch user posted image

I must be lucky,
I get to dump sand out of my shoes every day.
Living in the middle of the desert has some advantages, I guess.

Nah, the best is when you go to bed in your tent and get in your sleeping bag and you can feel all that cold sand against your legs!! And when you get back from dunin' and you shake your head and all the sand pores out! Got to Love it baby !

How about when you have been home for a couple of weeks and then you decide to turn your a/c on and everyone in your ride suddenly becomes covered with sand and you can just smell the dust as if your camping on the flats.....mmmmm thats the best!!!

As much as I love being one with the sand I have to admit that one of my favorite parts is that first shower after a few days in the ISDRA.

Just looking down and seeing how black the water gets when all that sand gets rinsed out of my hear gives me a major feeling of accomplishment. I mean come on, most of us shower ever day but do you actually get to see how much crud you're washing off? At least after a sand trip you KNOW you need that shower user posted image

As for sand in my food...that just helps us digest better dosen't it <VBG> I mean it works for birds afterall.
