Oh man what a night. I should be getting some sleep right now but mom was pretty insistant that I let everyone know she misses them and is getting ready to see them again.

We heard about the meteor showers happening this weekend and figured we'd pay mom a visit and check them out. But she had other plans in store tonight. Yep, she was cleaning herself off getting ready for everyone to return soon.

The sky was putting on an outstanding light show for us but it wasn't looking like there would be any chance of seeing a meteor with all the clouds. But then the sky opened up so mom could refresh herself and wow what a show of power. We had to hide in our trucks for about an hour while she got herself ready but after her shower wow!

Well, those are real quickies dumped right from the camera without any cleanup - I'll have some better photos tomorrow when I get a chance to go through them all.

But after her shower mom was smooth and fast (too bad all our toys are still in the shop) and she ever turned off the lights along the highway (We were at buttercup since some of the group just brought street cars) so we would have a great view of the sky for the meteors. And sure enough shortly after the storm they started up and we all got to see one of the best lightshows anywhere!

Thanks mom, I can't wait to visit again when I can stay more than a few hours!

[oops, posted the same photo twice had to fix it]

Loud? Oh man was she loud last night, if I had been on the highway I probably would have had to pull over. If you'd have seen my truck you would have though I had a woman in there but no, it was just mom huffin and puffin and prepping those razorbacks!

As for quick on the trigger finger - actually good lightning shots take the opposite. Just like shooting comp at night you need to keep the shutter open for as long as possible. Those were all 8 second exposures on my tripod. Unfortunatly digital cameras have problem with long exposures (espically when the temp is reading as 103 at night!) and that's why the photo have some specs on them.

I will have more - I got about 20 good shots but I need to go through and clean up all the specks from the long exposures. I'll le you know when I get them finished.

Cool think about living in Yuma. When I got back I had a phone message from my folks in Ohio saying they heard about the storm on the national news. I never have to tell anyone what the weather is like here - they know it's hot and if it's not then they'll see it on the news user posted image
