I'm not too sure what you're implying here, but if that's how you want to do it, no problem. I happen to spend 12 - 18 hours a day on a computer for my job. Much of this is time spent waiting, which gives me, lots of time to join in conversations.
Whether or not it's "aesthetic or cerebral", is up to the reader of the post. I guess it also depends on what being a member of Slappy's Army means to you. Some people see it and think you must be wasting too much time on a computer and not have a life. Other's look at it and think similar to your post, that it's a trivial pursuit, using one word posts and replies.
I try to do a little of both. Sometimes just having fun, and sometimes sharing in what the thread is about. That's the beauty of this board, it's your choice how and if you join any thread and if you achieve and/or waste your time to join Slappy's Army or not.
I personally enjoy the interaction with people I might not otherwise be able to converse with. It helps keep your mind clear and fresh, but this is only my opinion.
