HA2
sounds like he's better off not lifting anything for a while anyways.

the desert isnt going anywhere. there will be hundreds of other times.
glamis313
are bikes are already loaded and my dad thinks this could be perminit but what makes me mad is i have a brad new yfz 450 just sittin and gathering dust.
Fleshwound
the pinched nerve shouldnt be permanent, my mom has one and they are going to do surgery and take care of it, so if he has surgery then it shouldnt be permanent

sry top hear that tho..im not gonna go either from the likes of it
BeachHead
glamis313...someday you will know that as painful as your dad's injury is, it hurts him even more to disappoint you. It sucks that you have to wait longer to try your new bike, but think how you would feel if your dad went anyway, and then really got hurt badly. Some things suck, but always remember the health of your family comes first. I hope your dad has a full and speedy recovery and gets you guys out to the dunes as soon as he can...icon_smile.gif

Your Dad needs to go see a Doctor or Neuromuscular Therapist before either of you worry about any desert trip. Just as BeachHead stated, I'm sure it's hurting him worse not being able to take you. However, he NEEDS to be back 100% before you can even think about riding that new bike or, you just may not have a new bike pretty soon.

Speaking from experience... be patient. You may miss out on the rest of the season or you may just get one ride in. What really matters is your Dad's health on top of everything. I know you're upset but, imagine how you'd feel if he was injured to the point of never being able to take you out again.

Im sorry and I know I sound like an Arse but.....

If you're big enough to ride a 450, you need to spend more time learning to spell rather than worry about riding bro.

Riding is great and all, but if my boy doesnt take care of business (i.e. SCHOOL!) He Wont be riding.

glamis313... how old are you? reason why im askin is if your close to the driving age you usually have friends that can drive and was wondering if you might be able to get out that way? i know once i was around 15 or 16y/o i had plenty of people that could drive down there and we went alot more then.

i know what you mean about being all excited about riding you new toy but whatever you do remember your families health comes first. my dad has a real bad sholder problem and i load his bikes after im done loading mine cuz i know he needs to rest that sholder.

Ya, I guess I know where you're coming from: I could do pretty well in everything but that Freakin History! My God it killed me! icon_biggrin.gif

BTW, has your dad tried a chiropractor? They can work wonders sometimes when the drugs cant. ~I would try anything before surgery!
Markie_Mark
Dont go to the chiropractor...I had a pinched nerve that sounds just like your dads ....I went to the chiropractor and the effer splipped a disk....It made my leg completly numb and I couldnt put weight on (or even feel)my leg for 4 months...talk about feeling useless...those guys can often do more harm than good....

I think exercise is the best cure..

I dont doubt your bad experience, but that doesnt mean they're all bad.

I've heard some real horror stories with surgery.... I guess, sadly, theres a degree of luck in any health care these days icon_confused.gif

True...I havent heard of anyone else having an issue with a chiropractor...but that doesnt mean it doesnt happen...my crappy luck I guess

I am a chiropractor and would deffinitly suggest one for a pinched or irritated nerve before surgery. If you are heading to surgery already then if a disc gets worse it was already going to be operated on.

Markie mark what happened to you sucks big time but there are a couple of things to remember. If a disc is going to herniate it will happen no matter what, on the toilet looking over your shoulder etc. The annuler fibers of the disc have to be torn already to herniate. The next question is how many surgeries cause permanent damage and pain, that is a very high number. Side note in europe managed health care it takes 12-14 months to get a back surgery by that time over 50% have cancelled there operations due to alternative treatments and the body healing itself.

I will get of my box now.
