Going out there this weekend, wondering what to expect. Wet and messy maybe?

I rode at Ocotillo this last weekend(sat.2/12/05). It was beatimus, slightly wet dirt(lots-o-traction) and some puddles. It was awesome to have my knobbies on and wheelie at will on the banshee, it was kinda like riding a GIANT groomed moto-cross track. There was alot of mud in the washes and by the airport etc... But all the higher side trails, blowsand, devils slide were nice, out by shell reef was pretty wet and muddy. Alot of exposed rocks(more than usual) but, NO dust and great cool weather, one of my best weekends in Ocotillo that I can remember in all my rears riding out there.....wish I coulda been in G....but it was an awesome day trip.

Okay San Diego peeps, weather.com doppler radar shows zero, zip, nada for rain. I'm starting to believe it's going to be high and dry for Prez day.

From the look of Ocotillo wells on the drive back from Glamis today, I think most of it just floated away.

I was out there Sunday on a dirt bike wishing I was on a quad. Usually I'd rather be on a dirt bike out there but it was way muddy and would rather have been sliding around on a quad. The washs are filled with water and mud but most areas are still pretty fun. Totally different style of riding than what I'm used to.

We have been going out there for 20 years and only once have I seen as much rain in winter time. 2 years ago in the summer there was a storm and in about 8 hours they got like a foot of water everywhere. We left Monday night and it was still pouring, the airport was under water all the way to the highway. Driving home on the 78 was fun, dodging boulders the size of quads and all the waterfalls on the side of the highway.

Playing in the mud was fun, huh? People either loved it or hated it. My buddy came home with over an inch of mud caked on his quad. He picked most of it up sliding around out at the airport area. I had a blast doing donuts in the rail, that thing slid around like it was on ice. Probably won't ever see that again!
