i pretty much know the answer for this but some douche at a dealer said that the ds650 is actually a 500 is this right or wrong?

I think you answered it with your "douche" comment. The engine is the same rotax engine bmw uses in their enduro 650.

BTW I hear it is one of the most reliable big bore engines on the market
