Ya know, I was wondering... am I nutty or what. I do not watch football, baseball, basketball, etc. I hold true to my heart
IF IT AIN'T GOT A MOTOR, IT AIN'T A SPORT.
You name it
lawnmower racing
battlebots
monster trucks
cart
indy
busch
nascar
IHRA
drag
boat
swamp buggy
tractor pulls
anything, I can watch. But men grabbing each others butts? Just not for me.. whats your thoughts?

I too don't enjoy watching traditional sports baseball, basketball, football. except for like the world series. The last one was real good. I'd have to say the best thing to watch is La cross. I think thats what its called. With the baskets on the end of the sticks. Its nuts it's like there's no rules.

Except I haven't seen it on TV in years.

There's a little story in the March issue of Road & Track (pg. 131) by Joe Rusz who says he read a story on a news website that said race car drivers are not athletes. The writer claims "I am not an athlete. If I can do what they do, they are not athletes either." And this one "I can turn left in a car as well as Rusty Wallace." Joe debunks this theory with some facts. Like CART and F-1 drivers pull 4.5g in the corners and 3.5g under braking. Most people could not handle that for sustained time periods. Or how about NASCAR or SCCA where in-car temperaturs are often 160 degrees and the drivers race for hours in that temp.
There's no doubt in my mind that race car drivers are incredible athletes.

Big Had I guess that's why your called a motor head... No football, or baseball. Come on man.... These are sports that keep our nation together in times of war and rough economic times. Role models for our kids, well not any more, but they used to... These sports teach us so many invaluable lessons about life. Respect, Humility, team effort, so many others... The basics, you know. Kinda like riding two wheels before four

WALKING BEFORE RUNNING.. LOL

KG,
Popsi July 2001 had a similar story on Racing meets Top Gun. I have it posted right here. See what it says.
LIGHTHEADDEDNESS, dizziness, blurred vision. If you're a race car driver, these are three symptoms you want to aviod like an oil slick in Turn 4. But that's exactly what drivers slated to participated in the first CART race scheduled for the Texas Motor Speedway in Fort Worth were complaining about after practice ended late last April. Officials consulted with NASA, and the race was cancelled.
The cause? The relatively short (1.7-mile) track coupled with its steep 24-degree banking. At 230 mph in the corners, the vertical force on the cars was about 3.5 times gravity. Lateral cornering forces of up to 4.5Gs made the total load on the driver's body more than 5Gs – above the safe limit for sustained periods even for fighter pilots, NASA explained. It was the first time a major race has been cancelled because of this effect, officials say. – D.M.
3.5G (banking) + 4.5G(cornering) = 5.7G(total effect on driver)

5811,whach you talkin bout Wills? Nothin is further from the truth. Boats and ATV's keep this country together. heck, I spend more dough on a set of paddles then I would all year long at sports games. And, my money spent on the manufacturers stuff goes back into R&D for more cool stuff that I could buy next time. Sports don't do nuthin for me, but tick me off. All these grown men (and very rich) always crying bout this, crying bout that. Acting like babies. Example-Tyson, the jerk. Cost me 50 bones to watch him ROB me of a fight. Nope, that was it. Hell with it all. Motorsports never left me screwed......

Had, I agree, in regard to current attitudes of athletes. I would never knock sporting with a motor, I've got too much money invested to say I don't enjoy it, cause I thoroughly do...!!!!!

I'm just making this a two sided debate, and I firmly believe in organized athletics. You know me I'm a terror when I go to play ball with my FOOTBALL BAT

Still love ya man..

i'm with big had on this one. professional athletes are just overgrown little boys thinking mostly of themselves. does the term strike mean anything to you all? makes me sick to see some a$$ crying about $$$$ when he does nothing more than play around. role models? really? yeah i wanted to grow up to be some crackhead rapist or big cokehead. whatever. personally no athlete will ever get my dollars, i actually work for a living.

Screw "tradintional" sports! Ya gotta have some HUEVOS GRANDE to participate in motorsports!! NASCAR is a bit hard to swallow, but better than golf.
Who says that you have to be an athelete to be in a sport? What about Sumo wrestling?

Just watched an hour & a half of snow cross (Motor Cross on Snowmobiles). Sweet stuff just like super cross but looked a bit colder. speaking of snow, the cross between snowboarding & MX is cool to watch too.
