Remember when...

you were going to Glamis for the first time, and your friends were trying to tell you about it, and thier descriptions just didn't compare to what you saw when you got there?

you went on your first ride, and came to a razorback and it scared the hell out of you?

you had to ask what a witch eye is? Boardmanville...what's that?

you asked what makes this hill Oldsmobile, and how did the leader find it when all the dunes look the same?

you got stuck or broke down out in the dunes and it was just about dark and you really thought you were gonna be spending the all night in the dunes?

you went down to comp at night for the first time on a big weekend, it was the craziest display you have ever witnessed, there were bands playing, girls flashing, and NO trenches?

you could ride where-ever the hell you wanted?

two wheelers didn't have flags?

you ran out of beer and had to buy more at the beach store? (That usually only happens once)

long travels didn't exist yet (well you didn't see them often anyway, that wasn't that long ago), and there were more tents than toyhaulers?

Slappy first started to post on the original board and all the fighting it caused? Who'd have thought back then that he would end up owning it?

Remember when...

The first time you jumped on a three-wheeler, not sure at all of what to do... and just when you figured out that it really wasn't all that hard the leader charged up a 100' dune and left you in the dust!

...smoke breaks came because your bike was hot, not because you were tired!

... The people at the store were nice?

... Wash road was whoops all the way down?

... You never had to worry about your bike getting stolen?

... You could go on an off weekend and see no tracks all weekend long, except your own?

... There WERE off weekends?

remember when....

you could ride double in front of the cops.
you didn't have to wear a helmet.
you did not pay to camp at Glamis.
Banshees were $3500 out the door.
Clean Gene's was an actual building, and you could camp/ride on the left side of the road.
water pumpers were bagged on.
Mag fires were all the rage
People were kind, cause we were "in it" together. Oh, I could go on, except I gots to wipe a tear.

Remember when you could camp on the north side of Hwy 78 and you had to cross over the highway to get to the "BIG" dunes?

Remember when you first saw the plane crash site or the tubes in the dunes?

Remember when you first saw and climbed Hill #6 and 7.

Thanks to the "For Future Generations" out there its now just a memory... user posted image

oh, Bam Bam, relax. I said remember when YOU DID NOT HAVE TO wear a helmet. Hence, it was not a law. Thats nice you wore a helmet. So did I, as thats how my Dad taught me. Now, you have to, and I don't think thats right. Thats freedom being taken away, even if it don't effect me.

Here here Big Had. I may think you're an idiot if you choose to ride without a helmet - but I'll support your right to make that choice any day.

We don't need laws to protect us from ourselves - it just interfers with natural selection. We need laws to protect the general public from those who want to push their skewed belifes on the masses.

jhitesma, you are right on the money. What I CHOOSE to beleive is my business. I agree with helmet use, because, that is what Daddy preached before laws were passed. (back in my youth). But, I do not and will not ever agree/support things that restrict freedom/freedom of choice if it is not having massive effects on others. Helmet laws, seatbelt laws, ect. are B.S. in my book.(once you turn 18)
