It's been quite some time since the Slapster played with da riddles. Thanks to good ol DuneGoat for giving Slap a nudge, much appreciated Goatster.
There be a couple rules, so please follow them. Slap won't accept any guesses, so don't throw up a bunch of answers hoping that one will be right. Like dat funny looking dude said, "Is dat your final answer?" applies here.
There be a Slappy Package up for grabs.
Let's get sappy, start thinking with Slappy,
Time for a twist, so riddle me this:
A member of the family,
and I used to be chewed,
but people loved the smell,
as they sat on the pews...What am I? Slap will check on ya in a few hours, Mr. Red Tail wants to go cruisin with Slap at sunset, so we's gots to go...OOOOOOHHH SLAPPY GOTTA DANCE!!!

I stick by my guess. Slappy is a stick...wood...pine is a wood, they are in the same family. Pine used to be chewed. Pine is fragrant and is commonly used to make church pews.

Brittlebush - Encilia farinosa
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Range
Mojave and Sonoran deserts of southeastern California, across Nevada to southwestern Utah, western Arizona and northwestern Mexico.
Habitat
Dry slopes and desert washes.
Flowers
Bright yellow flowers bloom March to June. Flower heads grow 2 to 3 inches wide in loosley branched clusters. There are 8 to 18 rays surrounding the yellow center disk.
Description
This member of the sunflower family grows 2 to 5 feet high forming a rounded, leafy bush. Long, ovate, silver-gray leaves are 1 to 4 inches long. Brittle, woody branches contain a fragrant resin. These branches were chewed by Native Americans and burned as incense in California's first churches.

Bummer. I was gone for a little while this afternoon. When I got home there was a slip of paper in my mailbox telling me that I had a parcel from a sender named "Slap", but it could not be dropped off at my door, because of my dogs. So now I have to wait until Monday
Thanks Slap! Can't wait to see what's in it
