I'd like to get a desert tank for my quad, but I don't know where to look for the best deal. . . I would prefer one of the white ones. . . Does anyone here have any ideas???

I got my tank through Rocky Mountain ATV. It's an IMS. I like it a lot. It holds about 5 gallons. Mine is the nuetral color (clear). It makes it nice to see where the level is. If I remember right, it was about $200 bucks but well worth it!

i got my black 4.0 gal desert tank from Cycle Parts West for $180 plus tax. they sell a crap load so they can somehow come down in price. dont ask me how but they do.

I also went with Rocky Mountain for the IMS tank. The exact capacity is a claimed 5.6 gallons. $200 shipped was a pretty good deal in my eyes, but if you're in SD I wouldn't doubt that Cycle Parts West might end up cheaper...

Be forewarned if you just step up to the 4.0 Yami has it's a stock replacement. If you want that extra gallon and a half on top of the extra gallon and a half, it takes a bit of minor plastic trimming to make the sucker fit.

this is very true and this is the only reason why i didnt go with the 5.6gal. i wanted to be able to sell tha stock tank w/ the bike if i ever sell it. i didnt want to have to worry about gettin new fenders to sell the bike in the stock look.

I have seen the IMS tank and it holds a lot of gas (like they are designed to do) and it looks good on quads too..............Props for shopping at cycle parts west!

Getting fenders? Can I assume you went with the IMS 5.6? You don't need to get the fenders, you need to get them to a table saw.

my dad isn't interested in cutting my perfectly good fenders. . .

.....Air saw, but yes, you can retain your stock fenders. The side skirts that hid your tank before need to be removed to mount the 5.6 gallon tank. I took Dave's to work and cut his with my air saw. Anything with a narrow blade so you can cut sharp corners. The cut is not going to be a straight line if you want it to retain your grill, and conform to the tank. Dave and I may be able to get you some pictures if you are a bit confused.

Then you'll have to leave them off. There are no aftermarket fenders that will work with that tank. You MUST cut your stock fenders, or run without them.
-just a heads up.

I didn't mean that I wanted aftermarket fenders, I meant that I was looking for a set of stock ones to cut. . .

Why would you be afraid of cutting your current ones? Thinking of keeping the stock tank and reinstalling it someday?

What we're thinking about doing is putting my dad's fenders on my bike because they were broken almost exactly where they need to be cut to fit the tank, but I was just wondering if I could get a set that was a little bit nicer. . .
