I just replaced my clutch and my gasket is leaking pretty badly. About a drip an hour. I tried to tighten it and I think they are about as snug as they want to go, any other suggestion or do I have to drop the side again an buy anothr gasket. I didnt use anything on it like liquid gasket, was I supposed to??? An suggestions would be great. I am probably taking it out in a couple or weeks and would be changing the oil after that anyways so I would like to avoid having to drain it now just to have to do it agian in two weeks.

Take off the cover and put some silicon all over the gasket, dont miss a spot.that should stop the leak

why are you going to take it off in a couple of weeks for.also every time I take of the clutck cover on anything,I alway put some silicon to seal it better.

sorry I should have clarified, im taking the quad out in a couple of weeks, and I would be changing the oil then anyways. So I was hoping to be able to make it till then without having to drain the bike.

Don't use silicone!! Silicone won't work on an already wet and thrashed gasket, drain the oil and go get yourself a new gasket and start over.

just curious but what does everyone here use to strip off the old gasket that is stuck to the case. I mean that sucker was on there good? I used a razore for about a half hour any better techniques

A razor is all I have ever used as well, don't know a better way icon_confused.gif

I like to use sand paper, like 100-200 grit.

A razor or scraper or even a fine screw driver. Just be very sure not to score the surface of the case that the gasket seals against. You shouldn't need silicone. Modern gaskets are used dry and as the oil hits the gasket, causes swelling. The swelling seals the mating surface.

If you can't get it to seal any other way, the thinnest covering of silicone should be used. Take a pencil eraser sized dollop and work it around the surface of the gasket. If you can see a dry area on the gasket, it needs to be covered but just a thin skin.

thats not that bad, this 01 suzuki I had could leak out all of the oil in 1 hour..

And dont over tighen the bolts..you warp the side case which will also cause leaks..Azdevil

umm how tight is over tight. I went through and retightened everyone. I just used the small socket and torqued till they wouldnt turn, but I didnt use the grip of god on them, just one hand. Dont want to cost myself more money than needed
