When we all heard the news about the “impending closure,”
The entire duning community lost its composure.
“What happened? Who did this?” We all wanted to know…
from out of nowhere came this environmental blow.
From years of our ignorance and blissful contentment,
Came confusion, then anger, and finally resentment.
We whined and complained but no one seemed to care,
then the ASA came along with information to share.
Ever so slowly we began to know,
What was happening, but at first it was slow!
The more that we knew, the madder we got,
Rumors were flying but the truth was not.
We bickered, they snickered, they wanted us to fight,
They couldn’t believe it when we began to unite!
They didn’t think that we knew where to go,
But we all soon united against the environmental foe!
You accuse us, abuse us with half truths and lies,
But we’re not the bad guys, much to your surprise!
You say we neglect it, I say we protect it,
This wonderful piece of land…
We preserve it, protect it, and we also respect it,
And we all still want to play in the sand.
