Last year Revenge Racing entered a car - A whole bunch of us went on down there to lend a hand (emptying the ice chest anyways) and it was a great time.

This event is in Rocky Point Mexico and is a great time. Cant wait for this years race!!!

Justin or Chuck - you guys get a car done for this event this year? Ill have my car down for sure this year and we can carry some goods on it as well if needed.

Surf-n-Sand
rocky point used to be a lot of fun.
porboy
How about some details Rob. How many miles, classes etc. Maybe a chance to race the 11 car in Mexico.
QueenGlamis
We will have to see how things go. icon_biggrin.gif One thing for sure, you guys were a great help, and it always good to have family around for any event! icon_biggrin.gif 25cheers.gif

I alway`s think about doing these and Pete`s camp run`s but I`ve alway`s been afraid of taking my car down there and not coming back with it! Is there any info or advice you can give about taking a car down there and not getting hassled!
Punchdrunk Monkey
Sounds like fun keep us posted.
KingGlamis
Rob, I doubt we will race it. We had the new race car all done and it just sold last week. A good customer of ours really really wanted it so we finally let him buy it. Our third race car chassis and suspension is done, we start assembly on that probably today or tomorrow. Chuck said something about the Nevada 1000 this summer...
revenge
Rob, we will be in the race this year. Call me at the shop for the details and we will make it a good time just like last year. thumb.gif See ya, Justin

Chummin
The race is part of the whiplash racing series called Rock to Rock.

http://www.whiplashracing.com/main.html

Just talked to my pops and looks like my whole family is heading down south for that weekend also!! I know Socaldmax is in also.. Madweazel should do it again also..
Its a great time for sure and the weather is usually perfect for some time on the beach and in some local bars!!! JJs here we come!!!

Been heading down to Mexico for all my life and never had problems. They can happen just as they do here in the US. Keep it clean and remember - your in their back yard so act like a guest and all will be great.

Petes Camp Poker run is a MUST.. Its in October and is a great time.. icon_smile.gif

Looks like we may be able to make it based on the date, I have WTI through all of April but might actually be home in time to go. We had a blast last year! The area was great, we were a bit skurd going down there as well but I tell you what, I never worried one second about our things once we were there. Just good times icon_biggrin.gif
QueenGlamis

La Princessa
Im in Building E room 501.

Number is 1-888-262-4508

There are several places that are cheaper in town etc - These places are real nice with full Kitchens so you can cook your own breakfast etc.. They are on the beach as well on the N. side of town 1/2 way to JJs.. icon_smile.gif

Desert Oasis is the RV Park where all the racers stay and is also where the race starts. Very cool place with a bar/restaurant on site and full hook ups!!
I just made reservations and they are only about 1/2 full now, but they will fill up very quick!

Phone # is 011526383852566.
Punchdrunk Monkey
How do you get there? huh, better yet where is Rocky Point?
GLAMISCOYOTE
Here is a good site with lots of info. http://www.rockypointonline.com/ Can't post much right now because of effin work, but we have been going down for years. There is also a campground with full hookups right down the beach from the Princessa resort. I think it is called Sandy Beach campground? That is probably where we are going to stay a few times this year.
madweazl
The Oasis is to damn far away from town, I cant remember the name of it now but the one over by the Princesca was a very clean RV park. Its not a long drive out to the Oasis (if you even want to be up there) from there (20 mins).

We stayed at another close to JJs last year that was very cheap to camp at (11 bucks or something like that) that was clean, safe, and had nice showers (cost 50 cents or something like that) right on the beach. Probably stay there again this year.

I think that one is called Sandy Beach or the Reef.

This event is TOPS.. Fri afternoon (lunch) on the patio at JJs is the life..
Its in Mexico - its about 6-7 hr drive from San Diego and about 4 from Phx.
I8(E) to Gila Bend - South on the 85(I think) - Across border and head on down. Please do yourself a favor and get insurance. Make sure you dont have any weapons or ammo in your vehicles etc..

Rumors have it, you can cross the border in Yuma and take the #2 to Lukeville (bordertown in AZ) and then head S from there shaving like 2 hrs off your trip - In the past 10+ years ago - those roads used to be nasty so I never tried.
Lucky
The Reef campground is right on Sandy Beach and is very nice. Full hookups and everything for a campground.
tomfish1
get your reservations early at the reef campground it is right on the beach and very nice. Or we usually just stay right on the beach on the other side of the reef, its like 5bux a day, just put your trailers/rvs in a half moon facing the ocean. I like camping in the sand better than the rv hook up deal, more like the dunes. Last trip we took the turkey frier and beer battered and deep fried 10 lbs of shrimp and grouper, fed almost 20 people, mmmmmmmmm We are going the 2nd weekend in Apr.
socaldmax
I could bring the trailer down and this way I could transport the rail...

let's camp on the beach, I'm in for that! I got plenty of water, solar power and fuel. thumb.gif
Chummin
Got the big condo this year.. The Reef is right up the road also so thats cool and its alot cheaper. cant wait for this trip.. Lots of fun for sure..

sheet - I need to find me a set of rear rims and tires now.. DOH..
Chummin
Reminder - get your reservations in ASAP - Gonna be a BLAST.. cant wait..

socaldmax
Madweazl, we made reservations at the Reef RV park for Fri thru Sun.

Here's the website, The Reef looks like a great place. Hurry up and make your res.!
socaldmax
Can anybody tell me about driving directions from San Diego?

I'm interested in trying out the route that crosses over from Yuma to San Luis and then to Sonoyta to Puerto Penasco. I heard it saves quite a bit of time.

Can you give me directions, approx. time and road condition?

Thanks!

Even from San Diego it is quickest and safest to go through Gila Bend then on to Ajo through the border and right on down. RP is 75 minutes towing from the border. The REEF is an incredible place.

Here is a view of the water from a spot one row in at The Reef RV Park.

I've heard taking the 2 can shave off time, but I prefer to drive in US as long as possible.

We are leaving 4-5 am Thurs morning. Staying at the Princessa (sp).

Here are some new tools for Mex.. icon_smile.gif thumb.gif Should be mounted and ready to run tomorrow.. headbang.gif
Chummin
whats up with the Weazles on this trip??
socaldmax
He said he'll prolly be out of town. He'll know more as it gets closer.

What's going on with DB.come and Revenge? Who all is going, racing, etc? Is there a general plan or sked?

The Revenge gang is heading down Thursday afternoon.
Our customers Garrin and Ron of G&R Racing have entered their 2 cars in Class 1.
I am going to enter my car into the Sportsman class just for some cruising fun and to help support G&R if they need it out on the track.
Friday is tech/signup and then open pre-running, finding the pits, campground bar, etc.
Saturday is the race...buggies/trucks start @ 9:30 after the bikes.
Saturday night we get our groove on at the local establishments.bandit.gif
Sunday, hang by the beach and leave for home.

Should be a blast!

I have talked to a few of the DB.com guys and sounds like they will all be there w/Chuck to do some pre-running, etc.
socaldmax
Sounds like a blast! We'll get there as early as possible Fri AM.
