Full Version: Polaris Predator Pipe?

The topic says it all.

I want to add a pipe, maybe a jet just for a little more snap. Is there a brand/model that works better on the Predator will any ol' pipe do the same thing?

as with any exhaust system... what's "best" for one isn't "best" for all... totally depends on if you are looking for more low-end, more high-end, mid-range... What are you looking to get out of your bike??? trails? short track? duning?

i just got an FMF powercore4. good all around increase, more torque and sounds good w/o being too loud.

If your gonna do the pipe, might just as well take out the airbox and do the K&N clamp on. It will be the only rejetting you will have to do.

Im just looking for a little better throttle response and I would rather have a little more power across the rpm range rather than alot of any area.

Im leaning towards the Trinity Racing full system. Any comments or experience with Trinity??

call and tlak to alan at ct racing. i dont htink trinity put much effort into the predator pipe myself (just my opinion) thats for a full system. for a slip on, go with anyone you like the looks of since the slip ons all add the same amount.

the carb intake mods are ehre you really get improvments though. the boggin you are getting is a design caracteristic of the cv carb thats on the predators, they use vacuum to open a butterfly valve so at low rpm's the bike feals lazy and unresponsive, i dont know anyone that has one but an edlebrock carb seems to me would help alot since they use a accelerator pump. there are some tricks you can do to the sotck carb to make it better, involves drilling a few holes and cutting some springs.

just did the mod today, drilled the holes out to 1/8" and clipped 2 coils off the slide spring. Only 2 because I wantto see the increase as I clip more off. didnt want to clip too much and ruin the spring.

I should have it running by mid week, I'm waiting for parts right now. I'll update whe I get it together.

I'm pretty darn happy with my top shelf Preddy, just a bit more is always a good thing so a pipe is all I need icon_smile.gif icon_wink.gif

The FMF power core 4
with the power jet kit
it doesn't cost you alot of money for the pipe and it wakes up th beast!

Are you just talking about a slip-on? Because it seems that all slip-ons produce the same results ~about 4 hp.

thats tough to say, its all about your jetting... if your off on your jetting it wont make a diffrence if you have a pipe or a full system...

Just my personal feeling on what i had done to my Pred500, I havn't tryed any other pipes, but the price for the FMF 4 was right!, The needle and the jetting, I no helps out alot.
I do need to get a new header.The stock one is allrady decaying pretty bad.(TOO Many trips to Pismo)

dont waste you money on new, the predator header is set up stock with good flow. just pull it of, sand it down and hit it with some high temp spray paint...icon_smile.gif

I was going to ask Bugsy, how you knew what your bike sounded like or how you knew it had more torque? blink.gif Last time I saw it...it was icon_bigcry.gif being towed behind my bike thefinger.gif

The FMF people say you get a better all around flow with their mid pipe.....Thats good to know i'll save some money and clean up the old one,thanks for the advice!

You might consider the Rath head pipe... A lot of people have been doing the Jet Hot coating.... but for an additional 100 bucks ya might as well add bang to it.... I am running the HMF silencer and Rath head pipe and I think the head pipe really did do some good. I only wish I would have had it it ceramic coated prior to putting it on....... now Im just tooo lazy to take it back off.....

I ended up buying the HMF Full system with spark arrestor, Uni filter and jet kit for $419 shipped!
~~the price is right, I hope it works out well icon_biggrin.gif
