Holy crap. Way cool! It's amazing how much faster he went through the gears on the downhills vs. on flat ground. That thing is almost as fast as my buggy. icon_wink.gif laughing.gif
Temporary Insanity
That has to be the biggest/fastest track I've ever seen shock.gif

Hans Stuck is one of the best drivers in the world! He was once one of the premier Rally Car drivers for Audi. whip.gif
Fleshwound
that was effin amazing, i would definetly have a chub after that ride
Sandbooger
Speaking of rides, anyone ever do the California Speedway thing in a cup style car? That would be pretty bitchen. I have a moho spot infield for the races at the begining of Apr and am wondering if they do anything like that for that event also. headbang.gif
sanddunesaddict
to bad that trans isnt a transaxle...
if it could hold up to that abuse it would hold up to a sand car for sure
well i guess it depends on whos driving.

have any of you peeps ever been around willow springs at a race pace?
it is badass for sure.
and thats only 2.5 miles
Coobie

That is cool, it was cool when he blew around the turbo Porsch like they were standing still. I have a friend Bill Nelson that has a BMW M3 race car, I didn't know they ran that fast, I will hit him up for a ride.
LATER DON~~~

Damn that was bad a$$!! Smoked that Porsche haha. I counted 6 when he was at top speed on the strate ( holy crap, brain fart, I forgot how to spell strait ).

Does he clutch when shifting or kind of like speed shifting or is that car like a pro stock drag car and you just shift...some kind of air clutch or something, hell I don't know what I'm talkin about...enlighten me. Never see his left foot move, just right foot gas and brake

Kevin
wow, thats fast. didnt see him cluthing either, probably just blipping the throttle and stickin it in gear.

What do you consider a race pace?
I turned consistent 34's around Willow on an F3...

wow .. brings back some memory

Too bad the Euros are messing up all the great racing ...

Nordschleife has near no racing left ..
Monza, Imola,Spa,Le Mans, Salzburgring, Hockenheim, Silverstone etc etc was great tracks, but today they are over safety engineered and "destroyed".

same with other motorsport ... rally wrc with the shitty little cars today. short wheelbase quattro and Ford RS 200 was monsters

but the driving style of Stuck, Roehrl, Vatanen and co is what we like to do.

and most likely it is a sequential gear box, no clutch to shift, most you don't even have to lift the throttle. would be nice in our car, but most likely that gearbox is $$$$$$ and a manual shift auto is close to that for much less $$$$$
<edit> finally finished downloading ... no it looks like a regular gated shift box ... maybe the rules required it .... <edit>

BTW Carl, you see what a midship car can do icon_biggrin.gif jk

i have to second my bro there;
we grew up with that style of driving. i guess thats also a reason why our cars are a little different then the rest tongue.gif

btw
talk about memorys; i remember how it was to drive our XR 4x4 (Rally style car with 3 visco limited slips diffs icon_cool.gif ) on a twisted swiss mountain road icon_twisted.gif icon_twisted.gif

well i know is sure isnt seconds,
and if its minutes then he is slow as molasses.
i went around it at race pace of 1 min 17 seconds in a super production car.
Michael Andretti holds the indy car record at 1 min 6 seconds.

so only 11 seconds between a indy car and a fullbodied stock car.
it was awesome.

Nurburgring is 14.2 miles long, too bad they don't use it for race much anymore. I believe they allow anyone to drive their cars on the track for a fee now.

Stucky is one of the best road racers in the world. He first started driving BMW's in 1969. Through the 70's he raced F1 and road races. He dorve Audi's in IMSA GTO (AWD, those cars wer untouchable) and in the German Touring Car Championship. IIRC he never drove in rallies. I saw him in the Audi at the Del Mar road course in 89 or 90.

Just a race geek, Road Racing was my 1st love, wish they showed more of it on TV, instead of NA$CAR.

I've done it. hit 148mph in the Petty Driving experience. It was pretty easy to drive the car at that speed, I wsa able to look for my family in the stands.... icon_biggrin.gif
