He lost his steering in the rail and rolled it a couple of times down comp hill but everybody was ok! Thank goodness for a stronge cage, not to much damage at all for what happened.

Saw the car coming out of the dunes on a trailer, but didn't get a good enough look to see why it was on the trailer. Thought it looked familiar though.
Glad to hear everyone was OK.
We saw an RFR rail almost loose a wheel just south of the Cul-De-Sac - he was jumping for a video cam (had spotters on both sides and they were doing an EXCELENT job - warning him off if there was anyone even remotely near any possible landing areas) and after a dozen or so big jumps he landed kind of crooked - ended up snapping the lower heim on his passenger spindle and bending a brake line clamp. Tie rod, A-arms and spindle weren't even damaged it looked like. He was back up and running a few hours later we saw.
I actually saw two or three cars I know I've seen posted on here before - but they were all on trailers leaving. Must have been bad luck for a number of people.
On the rides I went on I actually didn't see ANYONE out in the dunes at all saturday unless I was at comp or in sight of the camps. As soon as I got one dune in it was like I had the dunes to myself.

KM, that sucks, I am glad you guys are ok, do you know why you lost steering? RIPSTER lost a front wheel over presidents (axel nut backed off). I am just wondering so that I can double check my stuff so I can try and prevent it from happening to me.

I feel fine, Jason is fine and so is my 7 year old. He was wanting to "do it again" Basically what happened was I went up the hill, turned around at a bowl on top, as I came over the top of the hill to head back down my wheels were still turned to the right, I tried to straighten out but couldn't, I either lost or snapped a bolt in my steering shaft (between the charlyn and the rack) so as I was turning to the left to straighten out the car was turning to the right and tried to make a u turn back up the hill. Once the car got to a certain angle on the hill with the we sand it started to roll.
I couldn't have been happier with the car and the security that I felt as we rolled. The frame and seat belts did there job and the only thing hurt was my pride. A little roof damage and wing damage and that was it. We duned to car untill about 7 pm last night.
Jason, the car you saw on the trailer was Richards ( AZsands ) car. I drove my car back to camp.
We should have known to turn around and go home when it started pouring on us in Yuma Friday night. Saturday morning we head to Buttercup for a dune ride. AZSand hit a witches eye and snapped a hiem. I headed back to camp to get a spare hiem while everyone stayed and drank my beer. Once we fixed the hiem we headed to the hill, tens minutes after the hiem was fixed AZSand blew up his tranny on the hill (just been rebuilt obviously not put back together correctly) So while sitting there with a blown tranny that's when I decided to run the hill, we all know what happened then. Then the next day were at Test hill when Rodsmiths throttle stuck wide open and he launched off the top of the hill.
Is this the sport we love........... DAMN RIGHT!!!!!!!
Rod, post the pictures of the damage

I thought that I saw you cruise by once. We got up and out of camp early on Sunday and stayed out all day. The weather was so nice we took advantage. Put a whole lot of miles on the rail yesterday.

Jason I tried to find you guys, what were you riding? I was at the hill alot either in the red rhino or my minirail. Where did you park we were just east of ranger station about 300 yards.

We were in our usual spot (somehow it always seems to be left open for us!) on the extreme south side of the cul-de-sac just west of the "no parking" area.
Unfortunatly it was just my GF's green dodge and my rail. The rest of the group got scared off by the rain - though Matt did make it in right about sunset with the Fling.
Since I was alone I only went on a couple of rides. And I didn't even get to do that for the first few hours we were there since due to a string of mistakes I ended up with no juice in the rail battery and no jumper cables. Finally thought of starting the GF's truck, taking it's battery out and putting the rail battery in to put some charge into it. Then I finally got do do some driving.
Car ran fine but without a wingman I didn't go very far or on very long rides. The GF's sister will be visiting from Kentucky this weekend and we may go back out again to give her a taste of the dunes.
I was going to bring my Manx but the rain Friday night cancled those plans (didn't want to drive out on the highway with no roof and no wipers!) so it was just my little primer and rust rail.

That was AZSands, yes mine was way behind too but I ended up pulling my frame out after 9 months and finished the car myself. Fate, carma, luck, whatever, I'm a happy man.
