Ive seen questions from others about the clutches hanging on cold start Raptors icon_sad.gif .
We have two of them and one of them right off the show room floor the clutch would hang and not release all the way when put in gear , the bike would start rolling even when put in gear and the clutch handle pulled in and a nother problem was if you pulled the clutch handle in and with the bike in gear and tryed starting the bike it would start to walk away as you cranked over the motor.
Bike was purchased thru San Diego house of Motorcycles. Great people to work with and they went thru a lot to solve this problem with trial and error laughing.gif . They finally got the OK from Yamaha to install a different after market clutch from Yamaha that solved the problem! Bike works great now. Notworthy.gif

Thats why I always neutral start and stop my quad when ever possible.

I thought it was the starter clutches that were the probblem?

Went out last weekend to Buttercup and had a chance to see if the problem was corrected. headbang.gif All problems that had to do with the clutch were solved, no problem even when cold putting the bike in gear and not killing the motor or haveing it to try roleing away with the bike in gear and the clutch depress.
Yamaha install a new after market heavy duty clutch and it was covered under warrentie. Seems to be a common problem with some of the Raptor 660. Notworthy.gif

Trust me I know. My 2005 660 is in the shop right now as we speak. I took it to glamis over easter, Went on a ride with montanna girl and friends to the drags. ( Boy can they ride too). After my bike cooled off I tried to put it in reverse and it wouldent work. Also, the pin bolt thas holds the rear brake caliper in place sheered off. It kind of sucked being that it was my first day there. I always had the same problem with the clutch too. The first time I put it in gear it runs away too.

This problem soon goes away ofter it warms up on the 660's.

Fireballsocal the item you are speaking of is the one way bearing in the starter area. This is a problem. If anyone here has a 'clank' sound after they shut down, your one way gear is out. Replace it ASAP. It will cost you more later as you ruin more stuff...ask me. I bought one aftermarket bla bla bla...it's working fine.

You were right, the cable needed to be adjusted. My shifter was bent too. 85 bucks later I am back in buisness. Thats funny too, the dealer told me the shifter was bent so they had to take it apart and clean it up. they charged me an hour labor. You would think if it was bent that I would need a new shifter. What a rip! plthumbsdown.gif
