Anyone know a reasonably priced powdercoater in San Diego besides R.W.Little? I am going to begin a teardown and rebuild in april, and will be needing a lot of powdercoating. I live in Kensington, so I am pretty central to everything. I will be tearing down my quad in El Cajon though.

my uncles and father have been working at RW Little for over 35 years and you can report anything you're not happy with if you do go with them, directly to me. Mike Lyon gets most of his stuff done at Powder1 (i think thats the name) in El Cajon and his frame looks very good. I think they're a little cheaper. RW Little does do small stuff and always has a ton of motorcycle, quad, sand rail and other vehicle frames in the yard but the specialize in large® stuff mainly so their price might not be as cheap as Powder1.

I have had tons of stuff done at RW Little. I like their work, I just have a idea of something I want to try, and when I spoke with Mike he said they had never done anything like that before. I will go to them if I can't find someone else because I feel comfortable withthem experimenting. I just wasnted some other ideas.

ECP has been my favorite. El Cajon also.. There are TONS of Powder Coaters there.

Anyone have an idea of what coating a frame should cost. I think I am going to try this this summer and was curious what it should run me

depends on the frame and color but i guess to be general it could be from 80-250 bucks fast.

My frame and subframe I want done in a lolipop blue over a silver vein. No biggy there. Mike said they have never done a candy over a silver vein, but he is pretty sure it can be done. I know it can because I have seen it before, but here is where it gets tricky. I want a chrome flake over the top of the blue. Kinda real light. The rest of the quad is gonna be a gloss balck, but again I want a blue mettalic flake over the top of the black. I have never seen this done and I don't know if it can. I paint custom bikes and hot rods on the side, so I know it can be done with paint. I just want powdercoat because it is more durable.

RW Little and North county coatings are suppose to be the best, but their back log can be a long wait.

I've used El Dorado Coatings before. They are in San Diego near I-5 and 28th street. They did a ton of stuff for my prerunner in just a couple of days and only cost me $150 for sand blasting and coating. I would use them again if I was going to coat anything... thumb.gif

If you don't want to go the whole powder coating route, clean up the frame and use HAMMERITE spray coating. You can buy it at Home Depot. The stuff is AWESOME! No primer needed, calls for very little prep, and it's just like powder coating in a can. I love the stuff. It's tough as nails.

Powder 1 gets my vote. I have had my frame and front bumper (from truck) done. Both times were great and real fast.
