A long time ago in a galaxy far, far away when I was just a rider in the dirt, that I based my life on " Nothing could be better than this". I have heard of Glamis but never went into far effort to find out what it was all about. Never had plans too either.
I heard it was so fun and the best ridin ever. I always just shrugged my shoulders and said yeah whatever.
Then back in a day where I met this beautiful women who put the reins on me made me go see the place where she was raised. Glamis.
So of course she wore the pants I had to obey. So I packed up the motorhome with no toys since we did not have any that were made for Glamis and hit the road. We had friends there with toys and we were bound to meet them on a Thanksgiving weekend.
It was a long haul since it was my first time going. You know how it is when travelin, it just seems longer than it really is. Like the little kid in the back seat..." Are we there yet? "
Got thru Brawley and it seemed like it was a mistake. The gas stations were packed with the weekend warriors and their toys but the town seemed to be runned down. I then saw a sign off to the side " Glamis 19 miles "
Pitch black and a few motorhomes ahead of me and the clock tick at 10:00. Thinkin 19 miles we have about twenty mins. or so. Then from a distance roundin the corner of a curve I saw these lights. The lights kinda looked like a town, kinda like when we came up on Brawley. As we got closer the lights started to get more detailed on how they really were. I said "what is that, a line of lights stretched out for miles?" We had to be about five miles away from it. The closer we got the more I was in shock to find out it was all Motorhomes, trailer, campsites, and people. The most awesome sight I have ever seen. In all my days I have never seen a place packed like this before, just to ride. Glamis is it all it's cracked up to be? Why so many people come to this place?
We then drove down this road called Gecko, which looked like only a Gecko could live at. Maybe thats why the road was named that. We found our friends and set camp. My friend then grabbed me and said I have to show you something. So we jumped into his truck and drove down the road till we hit the Hwy. I noticed that all these toys at night were drivin or ridin the same way we were but along side the Hwy.
We came over this hill and in this valley I saw something that in your entire life would never see unless you went to this spot. It was like MAD MAX - THUNDER DOME. A city in a valley of sand. I had to rubb my eyes to make sure that what I was lookkin at was in fact real. It was scarey but awesome at the same time.
The next morning I jumped on my buddies quad and we went for a ride. No probs huh? Yeah right!! Never been in the sand ever. It wasn't that bad. I followed two of my buddies as three followed me. Just then I said this isn't that bad. Then all of a sudden we hit this razor that came to a flat area. As I followed my friend (who was right in front of me) just disappeared. He was right there! I slammed on the brakes and as I finally stopped I was looking at the biggest drop off and bowl I ever saw. I said to myself " No way F that, what the ????" My friend from behind came up and pushed me over the ridge and forced me down this bowl. Freaked out and back brakes locked up it became so much fun. After that day I caught the fever and have become part of Glamis ever since.
So I say wow and thank you God for such a place. Fact indeed that this place is the best place ever. What a gift from God to see such beauty and have such a fun time.
So Fact or Fiction?
Fact yes this place Glamis is what you want it to be to you. To me before - Yeah whatever......Now - it's part of my life.
Fiction - those are just the ones that have not come to the place they call Glamis.
