I want to know what camera you bought that lets you use your old SLR lenses.??? And are any of the pics from it on here? Which ones, if so.

I used to shoot Minoltas for film (Still have 4 film bodies in fact) and the last digital SLR Minolta released was about 6 years ago and is WAY out of date. They've been lagging on getting a good high quality DSLR out to the market - but as usual (IMHO) when they finally did they blew everyone else away. The 7D is an outstanding camera and is the most "film feeling" DSLR I've used (I haven't used the Canons, but I don't like Canon in general. I've used several Nikons and they're nice cameras...but even in the film days I just never liked the ergonomics of Nikon bodies.)
If you have Canon lenses (and like Canon cameras - I don't they all just feel too flimsy to me. But my GF loves them) then the D60 is a great option. Uses all the standard Canon lenses and is 8MP.
If you have Nikon lenses they offer a number of great DSLR's such as the D70 which is (like the Minolta) only 6MP but (again like the Minolta) blazingly fast.
The real nice thing about the Minolta 7D - aside from the great ergonomics and controls, the beautiful color and sharpness it's capable of, and of course Minoltas legendary autofocus technology...is that it has anti-shake technology built into the body. Nikon and Canon only build it into their lenses so you have to pay a premium per-lens to get anti-shake. With the Minolta it's magically available on all of your lenses!
I haven't gotten to take many dune shots with it yet. The ones of my GF's sister in my rail and the flower at the plank road above were taken with it. Those are the only shots I've taken so far that qualify for this thread

(but if you go to YumaDuners.com and check out the Galleries in my gallery on the last page the two albums of "Stacy's visit" were all shot with the 7D. Only low rez versions are up there right now though.

Here's a quick full-size (well, more than full-size) sample from the 7D. It's not quite the south dunes but it is just east of Ogilby road and an easy drive from the Ogilby campground so I guess it kind of qualifies:

Click on it for the fullsize version. But be warned, it's a 21megapixel image! This is 6 images from the 7D stitched together. The AEL/AF locks on the 7D were so good I didn't even have to do any cleaning of the seams after stitching like I usually do. And I was able to take all 6 images in less time than it took to shoot one image with my old Nikon 4500!
Now...for some more south dunes images!
A few of Go Big at the Gordon's drags:

Few other cars at the Gordon's drags:

(For the record those drag photos were shot with a Nikon D1 DSLR and a 600mm lens! I was actually shooting from near the end of the drags. Unfortunatly the D1 had an issue with it's CCD and wasn't focusing properly so I didn't get many usable photos that trip.)
