I have a Great Nomination for Hero of the month. On Sunday March 20th at 2:30 am. My mother was sleeping in her trailer and was awaken by the sound of a bike which had stopped about 100 yds from camp. Most people would not have even thought twice, being the caring person she is, Both her and my uncle got out of their trailers at 2:30 am went to see if the person needed help. All that could be seen was a headlight and a tailight which would most likely indicate that somebody was broken down. While walking over to this complete stranger to offer help, they realized it was an upside down quad. they then hurried over to the scene to find a young man with serious injuries and pinned beneath the quad completely knocked out. He eventually woke up, It was obvious he had massive facial injuries and chest injuries. While calming him down and making him stay still and not letting him move, my uncle went from camp to camp looking for his group, while my uncle was gone my Mother and Aunt called 911. Paramedics arrived and immediately called Life Flight - He quit breathing on the Helicopter and had to be put on life support. Luckily he is gonna survive and make a recovery someday. If they would have ignored the bike they would have found a body the next morning. In my eyes they saved this kids life. No other camps woke up until the sirens and helicopter arrived. Due to the quick action my Mother,Aunt and Uncle took this kid will be able to tell this story some day. If they would have waited 10 minutes longer to help this kid he may have lost his life a few minutes before the ambulance arrived.
My mom is an Incredible person who would help anybody, I often tell her she is TOO nice. I have been joking with her and telling her that guy is lucky he crashed near her because I would have slept right through it. She has no idea I am writing this on here, she's not the type to ask for credit for what she does. Just a nice, caring person.
Whether or not She is considered a hero she will always he a tremendous hero in my book!

Allthough they are not GD people, I would nominate Gary and Mike Nixon.
On a recent Glamis trip, the brothers decided to make a trip to pair-a-dice.
While riding down the canal, Mike spotted a quad floating in the canal. Next to the upside down quad Mike noticed the top of a motorcycle helmet. Mike pulled off his boots and jumped in the canal to attempt a rescue. Mean while brother Gary started calling 911 form his cell phone. Mike now in the water and trying to catch the floating bike was getting winded... While Gary was on the phone he heard a faint scream for help, up stream. Mike couldnt catch the bike and was told of the scream, found the ladder and made his way out. Mikes plan was to run down river and wait for the bike to come to him. But once out he and Gary again heard the scream and could tell where it was comming from, they looked up stream about 100-150 yards only to see a young girl (18 or so) tring desperetly to grab the side of the canal. Of course she couldn't. The pair ran up stream, by now some of their buddies had come back to them. Mike again jumped in the water while Gary and another friend used a tow rope as a safty line. Mike grabbed the girl and the rope as the group above helped them to a ladder. Once there, the assisted the girl out of the water only to find she had a badly dis-located knee. The medics arrived, took her away and as far as anyone knows..all is well. The bike was removed and returned to the owners later as they came back to look for their missing girl.
Without Mike and Gary, who knows how long the girl could have lasted...
Wow...What a great pair of guys
