A good friend of mine called me today wanting to know about a rumor of a upcoming 2 stroke jet ski ban on all the Colorado River's recreation areas that her brother told her about. She wanted to know if she should sell hers now or not, so I told her I would check it out.

Anyway, in the process of trying to hunt down any facts about this, of which I didn't find much of any substance, I really took the tour of proposed bans on various things in the Southwest. Every damn thing is a "settlement" of some sort or another, nothing to do with science or whatever. It's crazy if you take a look at the big picture of it all.

One of these days for vacation all you will be able to do is drink a beer in your own front yard. Ooops! You can't do that in Huntington Beach anymore, I forgot.

I better invest in a canoe and birkenstocks company, in 50 years it'll be all thats left.

Do I think they'll ban ALL 2-strokes on the Colorado River? No, not anytime in the next 10-15 years anyhow Do I think they'll impose a few more restrictions in between now and then... yea

Some places are already restricted like just south of the Hoover Dam on Mojave... certain times of the year you can only take 2 strokes in that area on certain days...

I wouldn't expect it to be off limits for 2 strokes anytime in the next few years though

This issue comes up every summer. Almost. Its not very valid. You will see the ban of "new two strokes" first, kinda like the red sticker nazi stuff of past on bikes.

But Tahoe did it, but Tahoe is dam near disneyland (relax asa, you have a long way to go) but if you follow Tahoe and the two stroke pwc ban it was trumped by all the 4-stroke pwc's, god bless them. You see, Tahoe was happy as monkiees in a tree that they could ban pwc's on their private little lake using the oil/gas issue, (f-n hypocrites not including out boards) Then along comes the early model 4-stroke pwc's and back in the lake.

The writting has been on the wall on 2-strokes on land and water for years.

Actually, you haven't hit the nail on the head, because I have a boat, not a jetski. I was commenting more on the fact that recreation is being attacked on all fronts. And you can burn anything ya want I guess, I just think it would be kinda dumb to go to all the trouble to pick all the nails out just to be able to burn a pallet for whatever reason.

If ya don't care about leaving the nails laying around then you are a jackass as far as I'm concerned. But that's another thread.

Every year it was going to be the same...Remember they were not going to issue green stickers several years ago too....But we still get them and the makes still build 2 strokes. The lobby power of the major manufacturers helps us out here

Motorcycle companies quit making two strokes

Fourstrokes are too loud. Must muffle them.
Motorcycle companies tune them down and stick crap on 'em for mufflers.
Quads are too dangerous for kids.
Motorcycle companies plaster tons of ugly stickers all over their bikes recomending that kids don't ride them with a heavy dose of guilt for parents.

Part of the enviro nazi bag of dirty tricks: divide and conquer. They are taking advantage of and exploiting the general perception from boaters that all jet skiers are azzwipes that don't deserve their small space on the water. Some of the short sighted boaters fall for this hook, line, and sinker (pun intended) and sign right up to support that idea.

Problem is these mental midgets don't realize that if the eco nazi's are successful in banning one type of vehicle/water craft, don't you think they will turn on yours next?

Don't you see a similarity with what some try to do with the off road world...extra restrictions on quads, pitting 4WD's against 2 wheelers, etc etc?

The eco nazi's may be smelly. They may be the environments biggest enemy. They may have a certifiable "God complex". They may not be worth the oxygen they use up on a daily basis. But they aren't dumb by any stretch of the imagination...

But yamaha just redesigned the yz125 last year. Perhaps no new quads. Seems like honda isnt going to stop updating the cr250. The bike of choice of almost every freestyle rider out there.

I sold my 2 jetskiis shortly after the Lake Tahoe decision.
