Curious about the ASA's lawyer and court battles.

Looking briefly at the ASA's legal section on their web site the press releases are mostly "ASA Sues XXXX".

1. I would like to know Mr Hubbard's back ground in law/speciality in law.

2. Also which court cases has Mr Hubbard won for our side?

3. Approximately how much has been spent to employ Mr Hubbard? (total)

Thanks!

P.S. Keep up the good fight!

1. He is a specialist in environmental law.

2. Court cases, just look at what's been done so far. History is all on ASA website.

3. If you want to know the answer to this, you'll have to contact the ASA BOD directly. The only thing I will add to this is that Hubbard's salary is being paid by a joint effort of the ASA/SDORC/ORBA coalition.

I looked on the ASA site in the 'Legal' area and didn't see what your talking about.

Very valid questions mike 330R, I have asked the same questions to myself ( before asking the ASA) and the more I researched the more I realized just how much time and effort by the loyal ASAers/ Volunteers, do for all of us duners.

I could go as far as saying; there would be no dunes at glamis for us to ride,

I could go as far as saying; there would be no hope for the Off road industry as we know it!,

Just as it say's

UNITE, INFORM AND MOBILIZE'

UNITE THE MASSES'

INFORM THE MASSES,

MOBILIZE AND CONQUER THE ENEMEY (OK I modified the last one ) tongue.gif

Just the simple fact that the ASA and their legal team has been so sucessfull / with so little support from the other peers of our sport can tell one alot !!!

As far as the legal team ?,

If you know anybody that could have done as much or better to this point as the hubbard's team ? well then where were you 4 years ago !

I'm not trying to piss you off Mike330R, but legal matters and lawsuits in this case didnt happen overnight, day's, months, and they wont be settled overnight,,,,, either as I'm sure you know !!

Question ; If the ASA had the same amount of money as the CBD or the Sierra club to hire lawyers, would things be different now ?

Now theres an answer I would like to here !!!!!!.

Mike330R
Fully aware of the 'loyal ASAers/ Volunteers', the ASA's moto and the stuff the ASA has done.

Now, can anyone answer all of these questions please?
jhitesma
Have you considered asking the ASA BOD since they're the ones who can answer the question?
Mike330R
Looks like I will try that.
Thought it'd be easier here.

Thanks.

David Hubbard was found via networking approx. 5 years ago. He is an evironmental specialist. Certainly the OHV community has helped finance his sphere of knowledge.

Tough question . On ASA's behalf actual court cases I am not sure. But certainly all of our comment letters drafted under Mr Hubbards letter head have influenced many Political decisions. On behalf of ORBA he prevented the listing of the Flat tail Horned Lizard.

I don't have an exact figure. Our books are open to anyone that wants to view them. However if I had the # I dont believe a BBS is the place to post it.

As Washroad says a significant portion of Mr Hubbards work and salary are from the OHV community.

Thanks for the replys.

I can't keep track of which suits the ASA (joint or sole) has pending.

The links Glenn send look to me like comment letters.

Has the ASA won and closed any legal cases (joint or sole)?

I'll also mention that David negoiated a settlement with the FWS to answer our delisting petition. A bit in vain as we lost the delisting... for now... stay tuned...

Damn Mike, you almost got me started again.

Valid questions, and I'm very curious as to how we see ourselves in the future.

SWARK....the effort needs to be to save the Off-Roading community and recreational places; without those, there won't be an industry.
