so why is it that the chevy hd 6.6 has more power and torque than fords big clunker. lets not even talk about fords v-10. and the modular motors that are slower and get worse milage. but hmm chevy can you say LS1 i think i'm done

Chevy may have some power but where are there rear ends. They have nothing and if you think they do why do almost all trucks run a FORD 9 inch its the most realible one out there and ford motors are awesome my friends got a 351 W that puts more horse power than any 350 and the 460 stroked puts out 600+ horsepower dont get me wrong i likey chevys but dont bash fords. I always get ohh but i had to pull out a ford in my chevy its the driver not the truck. but again i like chevys but from my experiance a Ford kicks chevys ass

Ford's kick ass all the way....just think about, why do all the winnning nascar racers run big blocky ford engines...its because they are the most reliable engines out there..dont get me wrong there are some kick ass chevys too but most ford engines last a lot longer

F**d has some OK trucks, I just don't like the way that they look. I also don't like that every redneck and every little punk with a rich daddy who doesn't love him have SD's jacked up to the sky. I just wanted something unique. That's why I have this....

2001 Chevy Silverado 2500HD, LS, xcab, sb, 8.1, alli, 4.10's
6" RCD lift, 35x12.5x16 SuperSwamper SSR's (10 ply), 16x10 Eagle 589's
These new HD's really do kick ass. It has ton's of power to spare (340 hp, 450 lb/ft), rides beautifully, has great quality (this is my 2nd Chevy truck, no problems at all), looks great and is one of a kind.
Oh, by the way, the rear end is a 14 bolt full floater with an 11.5" ring gear. If F**d has anything to match that, let me know.

Hey Jdog. The new HD is a great truck but pay close attention to the Alli as you call it. A lot of them have been having problems. Just warning you. Already replaced 8 of them. and they are unbelieveably heavy, about 350-400 lbs. The 10.25" ford is pretty close contender to the 14bolt. Good luck.

I just love it when people say "I had to tow out three fords with my chevy". It is all driver ability in the sand. Now I have never had a Ford or a Chevy but I have a couple buddies and the fords always seem to have problems. On of them even threw a rod after 90,000, well maintained, miles. They make funky nioses and the five speeds shift poorly. A friend of mine's 10,000 mile old F 250 deisel is starting to make all sorts of clunking sounds. I saw an interview with the CEO of ford and he admitted that there was quality control problems from 1980-1995 and that they trying to fix them. New Fords are nice but after ten years or so they just seem to give out. Just look next time your on the road, how many '70-'90 chevy's do you see compaired to '70-'90 fords. Also, you see so many fords in desert racing becuase they are they only company to pay a decent contingency.

hey jdog thats not really unique. I mean you got the standard 6 inch lift not a big deal. You have a nice truck but i am buying a 2002 chevy silverado in january and instead of being basic, and putting a 6 inch lift, i am going to put a 12 inch suspension lift and then add a nice little 3 inch body to top it all off. Now i think that is unique along with the 40 inch super swampers that the bad boy will be riding on.

I meant to say "when new", cool guy. I don't believe you about the silverado anyways becuase I have read some of your posts and you seem to lie a lot. Also, I noticed that most of your posts are during the school hours, shouldn't you be in school. From the looks of your punctuation and grammar you dropped out in 6th grade.

The 540 is naturally aspirated. Everything is chevy except the Batten heads and Holley Dominator. Sounds like your engine is mostly aftermarket with the aluminum block grape.

i think that grape vine has a buddy that owns a shop or works on engines because he is only 16 and he must read alot of magazines to get all his information. Yeah i got a 502 chevy stroker motor blown on nos, thats a joke but grape vine would believe it i think he reads way to much!

Hey Red,
I know that a 6" isn't all that unique, but lifted HD's are much more rare than lifted SD's. I'm doing a bunch of other stuff to make it unique.
I stuck with 6", because it is still practical. I can still tow a decent weight and I can still rock crawl it out in the desert without rolling it.
12" with 40's will look sick!!! You better be doing a solid axle swap, those IFS components can't handle 40's very well. Chop off the IFS, put in a Dana 60 with Cross-over steering and some custom drive shafts. For ultra trick, get a custom 4 link with coil-overs!!!!!!

You guys are talking about spending a lot of money on trucks that don't do much more than look cool. For the amount of money you would spend to do 40s and a dana 60 you could build an awsome truck that could blitz the whoops at 65!
