It was a beautiful Glamis day(as all are) and my Dad and I were rippin around the dunes below Osborne Lookout 2 miles and towards Gecko 1 mile. Basically the bigger taller dunes area. We were alone and the buggy picked that moment to break. We had lost power to the rear wheels. I at first thought it would be a cv gone south but to my surprise it was the hub that died. The whole center of the hub was ripped out(IRS car) We were there for about 20 minutes before a guy on a bike came by. He stopped and offered his help. We told him we had friends camped by the ranger station and he said he would go and try to locate them. We had our doubts that he would find them as this was a heavy weekend. He returned a half hour later with our friends and they had brought a whole gang along that I had never met. In total it was 7 buggies and a quad and the bike. Mark from McKenzies being one and Mike(a neighbor) and His brother Mark being another 2 buggies. Mark tried to pull me out of the bottom of this bowl for about 20 minutes and 15 pounds of sand later decided we would use 12 men on a rope trick to manual labor it out. That worked and Mark towed me all the way back to the Vendor Flats to Sweet Maries rig.
All in all there was a huge effort on all levels to help me out of a jam. It took those guys a couple of hours of driving, phisical work and some high dollar fuel to help me and my Dad. I am very thankful that they did that for us.
Glamis really is a place of differences coming together. Rich and poor and every profession and age imaginable
Oh.....Sweet Marie even had the part for the same price as my local parts store. My vendor Hero.
