The Bureau of Land Management (BLM) has selected Vicki Wood as the new manager for the BLM’s El Centro Field Office.
Wood has served as the Acting Field Manager at the BLM’s Winnemucca Field Office in Nevada since June 2004, where she served as the Associate Field Manager since March 2003 prior to assuming the duties as the Acting manager.
“Vicki brings a broad range of leadership and management expertise to the El Centro Field Office,” said Linda Hansen, BLM California Desert District Manager. “Her on-the-ground management experience and first hand knowledge of BLM’s resource programs and field operations will be valuable assets to the California Desert District.”
Wood has considerable understanding of BLM programs and organization and extensive experience in support functions and budget. Prior to accepting her position as Associate Field Manager in Winnemucca, she served as Supervisor of the Branch of Business and Administrative Services and principal advisor to the Deputy State Director at BLM’s Eastern States Office. Her federal career began in 1992 in Lubbock with the U.S. Department of Agriculture.
Vicki was born and raised in Lubbock, Texas and will be moving to El Centro with her husband George and two college age daughters. She has a Bachelors Degree in General Studies from Texas Tech University and Masters in Education from Wayland Baptist University.
"I am looking forward to the opportunities and challenges that await me in El Centro,” said Wood. “I am also looking forward to the warmer weather." She will assume her duties as the El Centro Field Office Manager in May.
