With the season coming to an end, how many of you are doing off-season rebuilds and what are you planning on doing? I know I am, but this post isnt about me. I want to see that I'm not alone and what projects your GD.com guys are into.

I am starting mine after this last trip this weekend. My yfz will be completely differnt next year. Powdercoating, new plastics, new top end, new cams, new a-arms, pep shocks.......I could go on, but I will just wait and post the pics when I am done.
This is how it looks now:

When it's done, it will look simular to this:

Wish me luck.
how about a +2 pr +4 swinger for the yfz?

I have a +2 tucker pro arm swinger. I love it. Smooth through the whoops. I would of went +4, but I wanted to be able to dune and whip my quad around. I might of still been able to, but I didn't want to take the chance. Plus this setup is perfect. My +1+1 steering stem is the best mod I have done so far though.

My quad will be 2 years old next season. I figure I should start showing it some love. Ha hah a. And PEP's are the best. I am gonna get the big can 8 clickers. Expensive but worth the money. Especialy the way I ride.

Sissys. There are the Oregon dunes, Pismo dunes, back east.
The season never ends, only the location changes.

I'm hoping to have my rebuild done by july 4th for a trip to St. Anthony dunes in Idaho. I will also be hittingup Florence on the way up there because I have family in Roseburg Oregon, and I used to live there as well. Growing up in the ISDRA spoils you. Thats why I can't stay at Oregon dunes for a long time. Plus the salty air sucks. But Idaho, now thats a different story. Huuuuuuuggggeeeeee Dunes!

No rebuilds for me, rebuilt both top ends last summer and usually rebuild every other season. Gonna re-build my forks on the wheeler though, blew a seal a few trips ago

. We will be going on some summer night runs, so not much time to do much else
I am not sure how far I will get with my yfz this summer. I will more than likely tear down the top end for inspection, and either go to alcohol, or add some funny gas. However, also have a golf cart to build this summer, and I have a ton of sidejobs stacking up.

Same bike, just swap needles and fuel when necessary. Either way, I am going to a Lectron 44hv. With that carb, it is literally 5 minutes to go back and forth. And, it runs a plastic fuel bowl, so purging the alcohol is not as much of an issue as far as corrosion in the bowl is concerned.
hope you get a swing arm.

I will take off my side cases and strip all of the paint of with a paint and then polish them. Depending if i get a 3.5" spindle lift for my truck or deside to get a cheap surf board and then have my builder put in some webcams and a drz base gasket. I will also get a maier vented silver carbon fiber hood. I also might take off my one light and put on 2 4" round chrome lights. Not sure, i need money to do it first. Maybe some new tag x2 bars with a trail tech clamp.
Hey desertbound those are some nice Tore Up footpegs.
My friend's brothers(Levi and Jason) own it. I want some of those comfortable footpegs for my Z. Maybe ill take my Z to their shop and have them fab me up some pegs. I rode Cody's 450r(their brother) and those pegs were the best

Apr 7 2005, 05:33 AM
not sure yet....im gonna be workin on my axle first, then get a new chain and sprockets, and if i feel like it and have the $$$$ to play ill get the head milled slighlty and port and polish the motor. and tying up any loose ends that i have been dealing with for the season. (i.e. bad wiring job on the tail lights, new seat cover, cutting plastics, etc.)
other than that i might add some bling cuz my bike looks like it needs it and everything else is gonna consist of stripping it down and spit shining it.

Those pegs on my bike were the second set ever made. I snapped those. Jason just made me some new ones with major reinforcement. They are the same ones he runs for his dist 38 races I believe. I love those pegs. Jason and Levi are awesome. That is one of the firdt tore up steering stems too.

They are in Visalia, Ca. Right outside of Bakersfield. They are basically right by Sparks.
http://www.esr250.com is the website. If you call and talk to Robert, he is a really nice guy, and will take the time to answer any questions. They are known for their 240R work, but build a strong banshee motor as well. Tell him I sent you and he will give you a nice deal.

im just going to steal mikes quad. i figure its WAAAY easier than a full rebuild.
i might be adding chrome, polish, powdercoat, compression, and most importantly CC's....lots of CC's.

im playing in photoshop right now to see what i can do for a color scheme. im bored of the bling bling crap. i might do something with a lot of black in it.
case and point, the best looking bike ive ever seen doesnt have any shiney parts on it....

ill bring my small 12 ft flat bed and put the quad on the trailer and tow it with the golf cart to my house. imagine seeing a fully suspended golf cart going up the 52 with quad out back.
maybe i should drink that night too.

Chris, are you still having Allen do the motor work?
Yes. Dave Moore is porting the cylinder now and cutting the dome. Allen Fox will assemble the whole motor now. Originally I only wanted him to do the bottom end but now it looks like he'll be getting the whole deal.
In the meantime I'm going to cut off the tabs for the grab bar on my subframe and weld my own grab bar and get to powdercoating.

Yeah they are very cool guys. I know levi better then Jason, i have only met Jason a couple times. I'm good friends with Cody ,their little brother, i took him to the desert MLK weekend. The pegs you have are the desert kick ups or something like that. Jason and Cody did a district race not too long ago and took 19th and 20th out of 20.
Cody i guess crashed and scratched his new Epic a-arms. Jason beat his brother Cody though
