While at home depot yesterday the wife and I saw this and we thought it would be nice in the front yard, although it wasnt as big as we thought it would be, it still adds a little flair, we are about 1/2 way done, we are making custom stepping stones that will go infront of the fountain where it is bear, then add some plants, and a couple small lights, it is on the right side of our driveway so it is easily seen when driving up to the house.

Here is the before pics:

It definately keeps me busy maintaining the yard, we have about 25 acres of useable meadows, fields, etc. some hilly, some not so hilly, there are basically 7 areas that I continously mow, taking one area per day, so by the time I finish the last one, its time to do the first one again, 5 of them I mow with our rough cut mower behind the polaris ranger, and 2 I mow with the push mower. its work, but I like riding around on the ranger.

The red x thing, I rarely have it happen to me, sometimes when the pic is too big it will do that, but in this case I think I didnt have a strong enough satellite signal and it kept on timing out, but I got them up eventually.

looking good icon_biggrin.gif we got 30arces here and that keeps me busier then i want to be sometimes ,,so know what you mean ,,,but looking good.. thumb.gif

our total is 52 acres, but most of that is down around a stream and on a side of a mountain, so I really dont have to maintain that.
Screamin Ian
Thanks, I know the lady we bought the house from didnt really do much to the fields, when we first looked at it last Sept. the fields were waist high, it was scary walking around all that tall grass cuz of snaked (at least I was worried) but over summer I am going to keep it as short as possible, we arent going to water it so I just want to keep the length down. right now it is so green its crazy, I am guessing it will probably start to brown up in a month or so, then get green again come Oct/Nov. this was a couple weeks ago on one of our fields.

Nice !!! thumb.gif

Thanks, we just moved in a couple months ago in Jan. so every day is a new adventure, I actually just found a new hosebib that I didnt know about today. so far the main improvements have been removing a bunch of barbwire fencing and a horse corral. I would honestly guess that I have taken out a little over a mile of barbwire, about 1400' of fencing, 4 strands of wire high, thats alot of wire. and alot of posts. but it opened it up like you wouldnt believe, and I am almost 1/2 way done
The Wife
Ian, you have been doing a great job! Lots of hard work! Thank you icon_biggrin.gif I appreciate everything you do wub.gif
Midsubie
Hey Ian....any fish in that stream by you? ANy turkey's or your property?
The Wife
MP, doubt there are any fish in the stream, but there was a turkey behind the house about 40 feet away last weekend. The dogs scared him away though. There are lots of turkeys off Mesa Grande. I see hunters hanging around all the time.
SandTrap
Nice!!!
Screamin Ian
our turkeys and deer shoot back icon_wink.gifI like the wildlife around the house, I certainly dont want to kill it. The only thing I would hunt on our property is rabbits. Just because it wouldnt hurt the population any, and less bait for the mountain lions.

HAve you seen any lions yet? Last I heard they were getting thick up in that area.
The Wife
Haven't seen any yet, but then we haven't seen any coyotes either, so the cats must be somewhere nearby. I think they have plenty of food, so there is no reason for them to come out of hiding. We are also pretty noisey with the dogs barking and Ian popping off his .22, I think that helps keep them at bay for now. We will see how long it lasts icon_wink.gif
Screamin Ian
Maybe I need to start popping off the .223, that is my anti-lion device.
Sirdunedevil
this would work better!

Ian, you need to check out one of my new toys, I am sure you will like it...
Screamin Ian
I bet I would, but I could run them over with my new toy. laughing.gif
YFZ4KT
I knew you would throw me a bone here..... 25cheers.gif just be carefull running over the rattlers, the fangs can get stuck in the tires and still provide a nasty problem if you get your hand punctured from them....
AZDUNERAT
