what should i know before installing it?....... do's and dont's......dont want to hurt the motor

this is a turbo vw at 30 lbs of boost that just needs a bit more ooomph

With that kinda boost pressure, the best thing you could do is do a small shot of NOS. It will help you get outta the hole with less lag, but the biggest thing would be to cool down your intake charge. 30PSI with no intercooler, you've gotta have a super hot intake charge. I would probably run maybe 50-75hp shot thru a 4 fogger system and maybe even look into the Jacobs matermind nitrous controller. It kicks on a user set rpm at 1/2 shot and then flutter the solenoids to achieve full shot by another user set rpm. It also has safety features like rev limit and if the fuel pressure or solenoid fails, it cuts the nos off......if my mamories serve me correctly.
Excite Bike
I heard plumbing propane with the nitrous helps cool the engine.

Maybe on a diesel, but I've never heard of anybody doing that on a gas engine.

Greg, your mom will NEVER let you add NOS to her drag rail. becides you couldn't handel it anyway you blind effer laughing.gif
Josh @ DanZio
Make sure that you do not use a fuel cut rev limiter in conjunction with the NOS. If you hit the rev limiter, the fuel cuts in and out to limit the engine, but the NOS/Fuel are still spraying through that system. I learned this one the hard way! Also start off with a small shot then work up. I wouldn't go more than a 50 or 75 unless you rebuild it often.

because it is a drag car primarily here is what we are planning on the setup
adding second fuel port into tank, adding second holley pump,

the car is spooled on the line because of the rev limiter on the 2 step so i cant do it at a specific rpm since i leave at 7200 and the rpm drops to about 6500 at the shift

the car shifts automatically at 7600 rpm with the electronics and air shifter

RPM at the end of the run is currently 7800-8100 RPM

motor builder said to run a 50hp shot to basically just cool the intake charge since it is a sidedraft (not injected)

the NOS will be activated by two things, off the two step switch which is activated by the clutch pedal position and by a switch at the gas pedal or carb at full throttle

the nos will be on for the full run which is currently between 3.6-3.8 secs

the motor does get rebuilt every other season and the nos may not be used again for awhile after this time next yr when i get out of this car and give it to the girlfriend to drive as i prepare for the new car i will be running

am i missing anything or ???? i just dont want to push it or break the motor cause i missed something stupid

becides your moms permission and some driving skill sounds like you got it covered.

she said i could do a 10hp shot.....i think i can fool her with a 50

Plumb it into your helmet.

Much more effective that way.

Now that's funny right there. blury.gif

I run Nitrous on my buggy and don't really know what I could help you with but I'll trow a few things out there. I have the 4 port fogger system and have pushed up to 28 lbs of boost with a 100 shot (the 50 shot was pretty weak) on a 2332.

Make sure your A/F ratio is right biggest thing. I use a Innovate LM-1 for this task. I also use a seperate fuel pump for the fuel for the nitrous system to keep the fuel pressure consistant.

What I can tell you is that is all but eliminates any turbo lag. Not a lot of difference when the boost is all in but it sure does spool up alot faster. When I am on the hill (lets say Olds) you can feel the Nitrous (seat of the pants). On the drag strip, it all happens so fast you really only notice that the lag is pretty much gone.

I didn't use it much at the track as my tranny is my weak link but if I made a mistake (read missed shift, launched sideways, etc.) it sure would get me back on the boost quick and give me a fighting chance at catching my opponent!

If you want PM me and I can get into more specifics.

I remember about five years ago when i just got my first Subaru running good (all the rest in my group were vw's) This one guy had a 2332 with a four port pro setup. He knew that he should hit it below 3000rpm but --he did. I saw him at the end of the drags the second time I came around, he said, "my motor sounds funny". he tore the studs out of his supercase and crack one head! He sold the buggy six months later.

The things we do to go fast! blury.gif

fuel delivery is very important.doesnt hurt to have a separate pump just for NOS.All the horror story mainly involve lack of brains and not enough fuel.
I ran a nos unit on my old boat was fun to play with was a small 100hp unit since the internals were mostly stock.

If your going to run a N.O.S system, then you should call Holleys tech line and they can answer any question you can think of.
