There is a Store/Bar on the West side of Gordons Well, it's called the Par-A-Dice... (Great Food) They built a bridge over the Cannal at Grey's Well (West end of Buttercup) so you can croos over I-8. As far as making it from Gecko, I have been told it is possible, not totally sure myself. I belive that you can take the "Sand Highway" or even possible dune there. The Sand Drags have been getting pretty good at Gordon's since the new "Law Enforcments" at Glamis/Gecko. Hopefully Jhitesma will read this I belive he would be a lot more help.

The drags at Gordons are just that.......DRAGS NOT the PARADE of trucks and chicks that has been happening out at Glamis......Sand highway WILL take you from Gecko to Gordons, bout 15 min by buggy........

PAD is one of my favorite spots for breakfast. Espically at the start and end of the season. That nice clean air conditioned dining room is a great place to unwind before a long day of duning in the sun. And their breakfasts are pretty damn big too normally.
If you're coming from the dunes PAD may be a bit hard to find. You'll go all the way south until you hit the ridge at the east/west running canal and I-8. Then swing west until you go through all the camping at dunebuggy flats and hit the north south canal. There's a narrow bridge over the canal right where the north south canal meets the east west canal. That's where you have to cross over and keep heading west along the highway to get to PAD.
Gordon's does have some fun dunes too but you have to know where to look

The first set or two get overridden and aren't bad but when you know a few sets deeper are bigger smoother dunes they just don't seem that great anymore. The ride from Patton valley to test hill can be a LOT of fun if you pick the right paths.

You know it J!!! Go over to Patton for the mid morning crowd, then hit the soft stuff all the way south to Test.......GOTTA watch them razor backs. The first valley south of Patton......DAYUM!!! That is one softass hill goin down, even more so headin North!!!

Right on! We got gome Gordon's fans!!!
At Pair-a-Dice they have this thing called a Breakfast Bowl. It is huge and packed w/ so much fat and carbs it's the only thing you need to eat for the entire day. I have never ordered it becuase I have always been to hungover to eat it, but it has eggs, hash browns, sausage, bacon, toast all packed on top of each other covered in gravy.
I will admit, I have never been to Glamis. I always go to Gordons and camp along the canal, in sight of the drags.
I agree, the dunes from Patton to Test are awesome.
Sounds like on busy weekends (the only time I go) Glamis is full of punks and troublemakers, mixed w/ actual duners.
Everytime I have gone to Gordon's all I see is duners, families & friends having a great time.
To answer your question, my buddy tomfish1 said he rode his cr250 w/ stock tank to Gecko and back and said he barely made it. That should give ya an idea on how far it is.

Let's not talk up Gordon's Well and Buttercup to much now... I have to agree with you 5th, better atmosphere down south. I've been to Glamis several times and there is way to many "Kids" there.. The "Breakfast Bowl" rocks, can't go wrong with that thing and its resonable priced!!!

what do you think about the idea of having a "Gathering" near Pair-a-Dice one time this coming dune season?

Good thinking Crowbar!
I'm usually at Buttercup or Gordons anyway!

It's a quick drive for me so even if the toys aren't up and running I'm up for it.
Heck I'm going to try and snag my new shocks tomorrow and give the rail a quick tuneup so I can go out for a little bit saturday evening if all goes well.

Easter weekend would be cool...?
Last big weekend before the season ends, but I would be down for whenever!

Because Olds IS a trek
Gordon's and Buttercup are quick and easy for me to get to. Getting to Glamis means driving all the way down Ogilby which I try to avoid after dark - my trucks headlights suck!
Getting to olds also means at least twice as much driving.
Only way I could do it is if I drove the rail through the dunes from Buttercup or Gordons. And right now I just don't have that kind of reliability going....soon though....soon.

Well then you should make it to Wayne and Kerin's Salsa Saturday! It's in Ramona. That's close enough that you should not have any excuses. Sat Aug. 17th. You won't regret it.

A Gathering at Gordons is an awesome idea. I don't see why it couldn't happen!
Bring your ideas to the SSSS and we'll try to get something hashed out!
BTW: Anyone can have a gathering, anywhere at anytime by simply saying...
"Hey everyone! Let's get together at ....... for some fun!"
