I've put the inner and outer bearings and i'm wondering what seals go where. I'm going to put the stub axle and brake assembly on tomorrow and i dont' know what order these seals go in. Also i have a 1 7/8" grommet.......i figured out the knobbie grommet for the torsion housing but not sure where this grommet fits.
Any help on stub axle and brake kit install would be great.........or just tips to move the job along easier like i figured out to freeze the stub axle for an easier fit. Thanks.

there are metel spacers that go on the stub axel, they usually come seperate from the seal kit, you need one inside the trailing arm between the two bearings, the other goes on the cv side and fits inside the seal, the last one goes on the brake side for the other seal.

After the bearings and snap ring are in. One seal goes inside the trailing arm, the other goes in the bearing retainer. Put the spacer on the stub axle with the taper on the inside. Stick the stub axle through the bearing housing. Install the long spacer, the inner race for the outer bearing. Next put a paper gasket on the trailing arm, the backing plate and the other paper gasket. The big o-ring is supposed to go here before the bearing cap goes on but I've never used it. Install the outer spacer with the bevel side out and the bearing cap. Install the drum and crank er' down. I use a 3/4 impact or my 3/4 ratchet with a 3 foot peice of pipe. It's been a while since I've done em but I think thats right.

Thanks i'll go try it and figure out which ring and seals are which.
I don't understand the black seals that have an opening with a metal ring inside, like it clamps onto something...........do these fit onto the bearing? I have 2 for each trailing arm, one that came with the kit and one that i bought seperately.

Those would be the inner and outer seals. The metal ring is on the inside of the seal right? If so its a spring that keeps tension on the seal. Closed side out on the seals.

ah, ok. Yeah the ring is on the inside of the seal.

Ok........Question.
The spacers? What does the spacer look like that goes on the stub axle before it's pushed through the bearings and housing? is this the only seal for that inside bearing from this side?
Also not sure about the small rubber o-ring. and the metal ring.
I figured out the other seals and gaskets for the brake side just want to make sure before i push the stub axle through.

[/quote] One spacer has a taper on the inside and the other has a taper on the outside. the spacer with the inside taper goes on the stub first, tapered side to the cv. #2 Yes it is the only seal. I don't use the small o-ring or the washer.
