As some of you may know I just recently sold the Fear Factor Funco for a business venture. Well we could not accept not being able to enjoy the dunes next season so we decided to spend very little and get a standard travel. My goal is to keep the build under 5-6k. Bought the chassis ($2700)already tabbed and powdercoated with gear one disk brakes, "Stuff" sand trans, gear one quick disconnect steering, 1641 dual port vw with dual weber 40's, front beam with rack and pinion steering and front tires, Well $650 later, I have it on new wheels and paddle tires, along with some additional hardware needed. If you have stuff (beard seats, engine parts, etc.)I may need, please let me know, I am in the market to keep this under 5k. I will post pics as there is progress.

I'll be selling the 1776 out of my Manx turnkey within a month or two. It's just over a year old (Built it in April last year) and has only been to the dunes 2-3 times for some mild cruising since then...mainly street driven.

Here's the build up on it:

Would go complete and you could even take the car for a test drive with it before pulling it. Dual delortos, pertonix ignition and coil, 110 cam, Demello countweighted crank, ball relief mod on the case - took my time and built it to last. If you may be interested drop me an offer in a PM. I'm still driving it daily on the street right now but have some 2.3 Ford's I can swap in if someone came up with cash for it.

SHOCKER
Is it already tabbed for suspension seats?

Already tabbed for standard prp or beard suspension seats.
SHOCKER
Sweet, my dad and I put in suspension seats into ours last summer and love it. The only problem is we had to make the windshield and top bars higher because my dad is tall.

should not be a problem keeping under 5k.I myself restored an older rail basically replaced evrything except pedals, gas tank, swing plates, seats, and rear paddles/tires.Bought a teans from rancho, picked up rebuilt longblock1776,bought all new chrome goodies and alm front end(this was used) and am at 4500 right now
Only thing i need to get are brake, clutch lines, throttle cable finsished up.and some lights

Any updated pics?

Which manufacturer built the frame? because it looks very simular to mine and I am trying to discover who built my buggy. Thanks.

It looks like a Berrien Warrior. I could be wrong though.

I agree with Bill, looks like a highjumper. Didn't they use beam clamps that had their name on them? Might be a telltale sign. grinpimp.gif

Well got the motor in and running last night and the damn thing has a rod knock. I am taking it to Karls in the morning and they say it should be ready before Halloween. I will post some pics once I can finish a few more things on the car, it looks like hell with everything moved out of the way for the wiring. If the motor does not make it in before halloween, I will just take the jeep out and have the car ready for the next trip, I will keep you all posted.

Thanks for the replys guys.

Just a few updates on the rail, had a great weekend with no troubles!!!

Of course we had a few minor tuning and assembly issues (thanks for pointing that out LBB) but for the most part I have to say I am very impressed! We did blow a few extra $'s on the build (bilstien, sway-a-way, stroker 2165, etc.) so the budget was exceeded and is probably around the 8-9k range, but what price do you put on fun? flageagle.gif

We wish we were in our old Funco! We have made our order for our new Funco but completion date has it at T-day next year... To be honest though, I have to say it sure is fun to go back to basics, you really have to drive these standard travel cars, it is actually a ton of fun!
