Just got a call from a friend about something he found in a flyer about the upcoming Yuma Birding Festival. Here's one of their upcoming Events:

Dunes Ecology:

Join a biologist at the Algodones Sand Dunes west of Yuma to search for plants and animals at dusk and after dark, and to explore the ecology and geology of the dunes. Decipher animal tracks, enjoy the sunset, and try for a close-up look at the Fringe-toed Lizard. After dark, search for Shovel-nosed Snake activity and Desert Hairy Scorpions.

Wednesday Apr 17th
6:00 pm - 9:30 pm

Proposed Guides/Speakers:
Jim Rorabaugh & Joe Bigelow

Difficulty Level:
2 Shoes

1/2
miles
over
sandy
terrain

It's $20 to attend though and you have to pre-register on a first come first served basis.

I'd be quite interested to see hear the tour goes if anyone can attend.

This actually sounds pretty cool. Someone to name all the plants and animals as you hike around the dunes!

Bring water!
