Baja Buggin was way cool and sent me his old thumb throttle for Madison's YFZ450. I'm gonna be changing it out this weekend and had a question. Attached to the throttle is the throttle cable and I know what do do with that. There's also another cable that has what looks like 2 electrical wires, where does that go?

I was looking at the twist throttle that's on there now, and it doesn't have the other electrical wires coming off it.

Help Please. icon_biggrin.gif

Does the yfz have the TORS or is that jus the shee and blaster?

Go and get a manual that will tell you what the wires are for. If you need any help with it bring it to my place and I'll help you hook it up.

I'll be doing some wiring on the rail all day Sunday so I'm available...

There should be another plug like it on the bike already. Those two wires are you throttle position sensor wires. Look around on the bike frame for the matching plug.

Those are for the TORS Throttle Override System.

If you want to hook them up you can but it runs the same without them. It hooks into the ignition and shuts of the throttle if it thinks it is stuck at WOT.

I would just leave it unconnected.

step 1) put down the beer.

Step 2) call a friend to do it for you.

Step 3) resume beer drinking

Are TORS the same thing as throttle position sensor?

The Yamaha says nothing about TORS. I don't remember seeing any on my YFZ.

Its a throttle postion sensor. Not a TORS or what ever. It just needs to be pluged back in. Who ever did the twist throttle most likely just stuffed the wire you will need down in there. When you take the thumb throttle off you have to plug the wire back to its self or else it wont run. So all yo uhave to do is find that wire and plug them together again. Its easy. Just ask if you need any more help, i have 2 YFZ and i have put twist throttles on both of them. So i know whats up.

Apparently you do not know "whats up". That is the Throttle OverRide System. The Throttle Position Sensor is on the carburator. As others have said, leave the tors off. Nothing but headaches in the future.

24V would be my pick for the best info. He knows his stuff fer sure.

The TPS is located on the carb and controlled by the position of the throttle wheel, not at the throttle itself.

Just leave them disconected like me and 24V said.
