Two things come to mind as being expensive due to a lack of competition. One is the Mendeola but thats another topic, and # 2 is shocks. You have King or Fox,thats what everyone runs. Well I noticed Race Runner is trying to push there
shocks back on the market.I was wondering if anyone has used there coil shocks.
Besides favoring a brand name what comparrisons do people have as far as the
components that are used to build the shocks between the three companys?

Pick a color... I chose king... Cant go wrong with the big 4, King Fox Bilstien Racerunner, although i hate red! laughing.gif
Desertdogs
Bilstein is trying........for the race circuit. Those new BlackDiamonds are kicka$$ and very $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$

It all comes down to how much $$ you want to spend. If you have 15000 to blow on shocks the pure race series 3"+ of every company are the best but for most part people arent looking to spend that much money on shocks. Mainly people look at reputation and customer service. King, Fox and bilstein all have a pretty good rep; king is the more favored brand out of the 4 though. Go to the Sand show and look around....there must be a reason you see so many of their shocks. Sway aways rep went down the tube when their shocks started to leak a few years back and now they have the so called "new and improved" seals...but that doesnt mean that everyone is going to jump on the bandwagon. Most will stick with what has worked good for them in the past. Every company has something else to offer that is different: they may use different seals, lengths of resivoirs, resivoir positions, coils, slider materials, shaft materials, can materials and stroke lengths..etc.

King has been good to me w/ my truck and our truggy. They re-valved 10 shocks for me in a day and I have no complaints, their customer service is bar none the best I have ever had with any company.

Also it doesnt come down to color anymore either, I know king will have the shocks anodized what ever color you prefer.
*BTW bilsteins new shock is the black hawk*

Not saying that the others don't, but King does help try to keep G open.$$

I have had some Kings leak as well. I am going with FOX on my new ride. I drove The Racer car that had FOX shocks and it rode great. I think the King's have a little cushier ride at slower speeds but I think you can punish the FOX shocks more and they seemed to me to ride better than the Kings at higher speeds. Just my two bits. burnout.gif

Punish the Fox shocks more....LOL you are very funny. Wouldnt you think that if one shock company rode the best everyone would run them?? Look at most of the TT running 100-140mph and most, run Kings...doesnt mean your car will run that fast or handle as good as a TT would just because it has that brand. Same with the racer sand car...just because dondel has his car tuned doesnt mean yours will ride the same. It all depends on what your car is set up to do, not just the shocks. You set your shocks to ride good at what speed you will normally drive. Just because one shock rides better at one speed vs. another doesnt mean anything about the shock manufacturer its all in the valving, suspension, etc...

Oh man, did you see Robby Gordons procomp shocks....I can jump the olds double too or win the baja 500. Sorry, not going to happen.

Robby dose not run Pro-comp on his tt or on any of his Pre Runners He runs 3in race runners (sway away) Pro comp builds shocks to RGM specs for general use in the offroad market.

My '01 car has Race-Runner dual-rate coil-over w/ reservoirs and they haven't leaked yet. Although I have heard of this happening a lot. The only thing I don't like about them is the reservoir hose is ugly black...should be braided stainless for more bling.

If I was gonna get new shocks I would get Bilstein, that's what I run on my F-250 and they kick butt. $.02

NO $HIT....sway away doesn't make his shocks. He did; they are a robby gordon shock

"Yes procomp makes a rg shock"....it was a joke

Robbie and Bob's shock's are there own. I think Cam runs them too...

I have a set of Swayaway racerunners on my Prowler's LT car. They come valved way too stiff from the factory. Ihave heard the latest versions are not quite as stiff, but they still need to be softened up. The next car ibuild will probably have Kings! P.S. the reservoir hoses are effen' ugly! shocker.gif beer.gif Oh yeah i have run mine for two seasons , and not a drop of oil out of any of them. Swayaway also leaves much to be desired with their customer satisfaction and parts availability. boxing.gif
