Took some pics of how it was sitting as of yesterday. First pic is the day we started, the rest were from yesterday.Got the steering squared away lastnight. Next is radiator and fuel tank. Don't mind my "bling" paint job. Far from a LT but should be a fun little car.

The plan is to run it for a season to make sure there is no other changes that need to be made that require cutting/welding, then it's time for powder. I will be sure to look you up when I am ready.

I'm hoping just to make it up Patton without too much trouble. My first car was a pinto powered scorpion and I wasn't impressed with the power to say the least. I am hoping this turbo subie has a bit more power to get me around.

Oh that Subie will push it around just fine. I went from a 2 litre VW to a 2.0 Subaru, big difference. Best thing is, you dont have to wrench on the motor when you get back to camp

Nice car

Wow, you guys are even more optimistic than I am. I just hope I'm not the slow kid at the hill anymore
On a side note, I called Bob Butler to get a quote on doing a custom exhaust and he was thinking about 900. DO you guys know or reccomend anyone else in the San Diego area for custom exhaust? SHould be really simple really....just out the back, over the trans and the throttle body is right there. Any info is appreciated.

That's a sore suject lol....I bought this car as a package deal. There was basically an entire car there that had never been assembled. Part of the package was a built type 1....not sure how long it will last but the budget doesn't allow for a new trans right now. Time will tell I suppose.

Thanks....this is a first for me and it's amazing how much time it takes to do what seems like the simplest thing. I would completely clueless if it wasn't for Racerx63's knowledge and tools.
I have been watching your build Charger....you have completely turned that car around, it looks great.

and when go to the shops to buy parts you dont realize how much you need. You know how many times i have gone to ace harware to get bolts only to find out later i need more,Lots of little things left after you think you got it all.As of right now i only need brake lines, clutch line, throttle cable.
I had to replace the oil filter adpater as well as the oil cooler adaptor from the motor i bought the cheap ones and they both leaked(the filter one was the worst didnt have a smooth surface for the gasket from the filter)new one works good fixed all leaks from fittings also.
Lights are on and working all electrical is finished engine idles smooth and revs good after minor adjustments too few minor things to do but maybe within the month i'll finish

You’ll have a great time with that car; it will be like a slot-car.
You might think about a clutch from Ron Lummus, his black magic clutch disc will help keep your Trans alive. If you can cough up some extra money install a 300m imput shaft and axels.
All this will help keep it alive.
If you call RLR ask for Chad and tell him Hopper sent you.

well the exhaust is done, and now we are working on the radiator and scoop. The plan is to mount the radiator on the back with kind of a wing look to it, with a small scoop to direct the air. Thos pics will be up in a few days, for now here are the exhaust and one of the steering. Big thanks to Bob Butler on the exhaust, he did a great job and I would definitelt reccomend him to anyone. Ofcourse a big thanks to RacerX63 as well for all of his help and knowledge during this build. I'd still be trying to get the a-arms on if it wasn't for his help.

Here are some updated pics....got the radiator mounted. The plan is to buikld an aluminum shroud around it to force the air into the radiator and make it look a bit cleaner. Also got the fuel tank and battery box installed. Racerx63 basically has done everything I am the tool Biatch and provide moral support.

I'm not real sure what it will weigh.....1000lbs maybe? I think Racerx63 has access to some scales he uses on his race car so we will know soon enough. Once I plop my large arse in it , I will ruin any weight advantage that I had

Looks great!! just run 13.00's with a lot of air in them, lose a little traction, keep the trans alive. That motor will move that car plenty fast even giving up a little bite. A guy in El centro has the same set-up except his is a 5-link IRS, still a type 1 and he has ran for three years so-far with no trans trouble.

I am actually running some 13.00's that came with the car so that is excellent news. I am hoping it will last me a couple of seasons anyways, and given my driving style, I don't think it will be an issue. Time will tell though. Definitely looking forward to seeing how it does compared to the pinto powered car I had before this.

Well we finally got the radiator shroud made, all the lights are tabbed, and the wiring has started. Here are a couple of before and after shots of the shroud. RacerX63 did a really nice job fabbing it and welding it, definitely a learning experience seeing how tempermental aluminum is to weld. Next up is side panels, and finishing touches to get the motor running.
