Can't wait for her to be finished. Jesse has been very cool to work with and patient with me showing up every couple of days to see the progress.

Looks really nice. Keep us posted when you can. We all love pictures.
Racerx63
I will be taking a lot of pics. Hopefully I don't bug Jesse too much. icon_biggrin.gif
LovesDunes
He is a nice guy, I'm sure he won't mind. Just don't set up camp so he can keep working on your car. icon_biggrin.gif

Besides, just think of all the free publicity he is getting. Can't beat that. thumb.gif
Racerx63
icon_biggrin.gif No doubt, don't want to slow him down. whip.gif icon_biggrin.gif

It is a dual sport but I will use it mainly for the sand. He definately has the off road influence on the design.

The motor will be a chevy 350 with AFR aluminum heads, cosworth crank and rods, running 10:1 compression with a Mende 2d trans. Should scoot along pretty good.

That is going to be a mean mo'sheen.....I love those cars!
Did he change the front end a bit on them?

That I don't know. From the pictures I have seen if it has changed it has not changed by much.
socaldmax
So that was your car in the shop... looks GREAT!

I love his cars, but have yet to actually ride in one. The one thing I'm really curious about is just how plush the ride is.

Keep us informed, I love to see pics of buildups.

If anybody's curious, I really do think JPDesigns builds a great chassis.

I'm sure you've seen some of my posts where I was not so enthusiastic about some other chassis or other. After seeing these chassis in person, you get kinda spoiled.

You begin to expect the triangulation, separate tabs for each of the 5 points of the harness, the ^ in the windshield, the stout shock mounts, the plated peices. I'm no expert, but it's definitely inspired by the race cars and trucks and they look stout. They're a very well thought out design.

I stop in every couple of weeks to see what's brewing and he does all of my fab work on my rail. He's always got fresh cars coming out and I've never seen any of his cars come back for repairs. He's building a lot of V8 cars lately, but he still does a-arm conversions on VWs and he'll build you anything from a standard travel VW to a truggy.

That reminds me... he mentioned he's itching to build a truggy or a pre-runner type... anybody in the mood for one?

No doubt I have one of those benders at home. It is not bad but with the amount he does it gives the back a work out for sure.
Midsubie
This is a great looking frame. Jessie does really good work and is a really nice guy on top of everything else. I have seen his finished products and they are really impressive. Too bad it's gonna have one of those heavy carburated things powering it tongue.gif

He is very cool about that. He will take as long as is needed to answer questions. At least that is my experience so far. He hasn't chased me out with a pipe yet. icon_biggrin.gif .

how much hp you going with?
Racerx63
Hopefully it will be around 520-530hp at the crank on pump gas.

I wish, that is a nice motor. No mine will be an iron block chevy 350 with Aluminum AFR heads. I'll take the extra 60 lbs to save a bunch of $$$$$.

I believe that .095 is standard on uprights and main rails. The SCORE rulebook is a fairly good guideline. Bit if it's only a sand car the lighter stuff might be OK.

I could ask him, but I'd bet he's using thicker stuff in important areas and thinner in areas he considers less critical.

Woohooo! She is on wheels. Thanks to Jesse it looks like it will be ready for pick up on Friday unless something comes up. 2-3 weeks ahead of schedule. drinkup.gif

Cro-mo is twice as strong as mild steel so "technically" it would only need half the wall thickness to maintain equal strength. Realistically this doesnt leave much meat for the welds but I cant see where .083 would be that much weaker. On the other hand I dont know s*** about metalurgy either laughing.gif
Racerx63
thanks, I can't wait to get her in the garage and start assembling the rest of it.
