I was looking into the Wizard School of Fab. Has anyone heard anything about it or attended? It seems a little expensive but depending on what you actually learn i am sure it could be worth it. Sounds like they mainly teach you Welding and a little suspension. Does anyone know of any other schools like this?? I am interested in knowing the right way to do things the first time rather than guessing 10 times and then figuring it out.

Wizard has the only school that i'm aware of. Seems to be good training that will set you up with all the basics and beginning welding skills for building cars.

You also might try hitting up shops that build sandcars. Many shops will bring you on, train you and move you up in posistions. It's basically the same type training as wizard without but rather than paying your getting paid.
SHOCKER
If ya do a search in this forum there is a big thread on the school
on the gas
It's a trade school it's overrated junior college.

Most people seem to think that it is an excellent school to learn the basics of welding and fabrication. Understand that you will not be an expert at anything after attending the school and you won't be worth $60K a year. It just teaches the basics. With that being understood, I think it is an excellent chance to learn from a respected member of the fabrication community.

I took the class and I really liked it. I new nothing about rails or welding but now I can build one. I’m not expecting to start my own business but my be I can in a few years. You can go and get a job at a shop but their not going to show you how to start your own business. Most owners just want to keep you dumb so you don’t become competition. Plus, your not going to get paid very much. The wizard school makes it easy to learn and still keep your job. Some students have started their own businesses but they already had experienced in the sand rail business. John (wizard fab owner) provides you with a lot of resources to start your own business and that’s why some students where able to.
You don’t just learn about building cars you also develop valuable relationships with other students. This school frees you from being dependent on other people to fix your sand car or any kind of fabrication. Right now I’m working on 3 different cars and I made a quick 200-bucks for building a roll cage for a golf cart that took only a few hours to build. As long as you apply your self you can get a lot out of the class. The class was fun and I’m sure in a few years the 6500 dollars will pay for your self.
ps:If any body needs some fabricating just let me know. Most people on the board know me as treshombres son so you can let him know to. I’m just trying to get my hands on as much fabricating as I can so I can develop my skills.

Josh, if your ever interested on relocating we're looking for good fabricators and assemblers. Pay is good for the area and we're definitely not willing to keep you in the dark. The more responsibility and hard work you put in, the more we're willing to do for and with you. Just a thought. We'll be in the new facility Late August and first part of September. I have an entire Race Car section of the building that we'll be expanding on and i need someone good to put in there.
