I'm looking for some tires that I could use in sand or dirt(front only). I don't want the cheap implements any suggestions.

I am confused if you have 17" beadlocks I would assume they make them in 17".

According to MT's website---NO. plthumbsdown.gif Thats too bad, I am going to run 17"s as well & this might of been a good setup for me.

Nothing to be confused about, he is asking about the Baja Pro's. As stated above it does not look like MT makes them in a 17".

Yeah, buy a pair of 15in. wheels, and then buy some Baja Pro's icon_biggrin.gif icon_biggrin.gif

Kidding, I have no idea blink.gif blink.gif good luck

I really dont see the benifit of having 17" rims unsure.gif
The tire choices are very limited and very expensive.
You get less sidewall area for less protection of the wheels

Desertdogs
I'm asking myself why do you need beadlocks on the front?

Not really needed, unless you race...and then again, look at the classses that do use them
tomfish1
desterdogs, are you kidding?? have you not ever done a high speed sliding turn in the dunes?? front tires off the bead are the cause of many a rollover. Front bead locks every bit as important as rear IMHO.

the dominator rear paddles are why I went with 17'',why not have front beadlocks too, cheap insurance.
Well it seems I have zero options for dual purpose tires on 17'' besides implements plthumbsdown.gif . I think I'll have to spend the extra green and buy another set of front rims(15''), do you guys reccomend the baja pros for dirt only?

They are designed for dirt, more so than for sand. However, I have seen them used for both many times. But since you are going to have the Baja Pro's on a seperate set of wheels, why not just swap the tires and wheels when you change terrain....just like you would your paddles
Chummin
Call and find out if MT makes a 17" tire.

Im running the baja pros and love them. Get just a tiny bit of sand tossed up by them and its worth it if you ask me.

The X-Terrain looks to be availabe in only a 35" tall version.

Their Mud Terrain is available in both 35" and 33 x 12.50 x17

And for the guys running 15" rims, maybe the Yokohama Geolander M/T is an option:

OK now I gotta go Ot here

Why on a sand car/ dirt car would you go from say Doug beadlocks up front to say Forged RG or Walker fronts do you really need the extra/weight/cost??

I see alot of current sand buggies going way too tuff enough and overbuilding when It should be, if it isnt broke yet? dont fix it/ upgrade it

As your sig says "you don't bling" but the 17"s do look better. That is just an aestetic's opinion but I disagree with the wheel protection part. In the desert that would be true but in the SAND where I will be running mine 95+% of the time it is a non issue especially with 33" or taller tire. Also the shorter sidewall will be beneficial during HARD cornering for the same reason that sport cars run low aspect tires(less flex). I agree it is pricey at this point but they will come down & will be more choices over time. Look at pickup tire choices 5 years ago, it was the same as it had been for 10-20 years prior plthumbsdown.gif . To me it was looks 1st then just to be little different. To each their own though. thumb.gif

Like I said before I am searching for options as well. Maybe go in & add 17" to the title of this thread? I disagree about the implements though. Those tires obviously have been used to wide acclaim & I would like to run them. The problem is I cannot find ANY 17" implement tires. plthumbsdown.gif I might run BFG AT's up there or just get the razors & have to buy seperate F wheels & tires. Wow this is an $$$ sport angryfire.gif

Well its my beleive you dont find racers sportin 20's

I am not a race car fanatic & don't know about 20's but there are cars that are required to run 19's. I said my choice is based mostly on looks but I think there will be a performance advantage. There should be less flex but I will still run beadlocks. It is just a fact, a equal height tire on 15" will flex more than one on a larger diameter wheel.

edit for sp
Permagrin
Flex is what Im looking for in the 15"
cus when Im jamming down the sand highway in my 2k pound v8 car I want all the sidewall I can get

Point takin, makes sense. I run 22-11-8's on my Odyssy because there is no rear suspension! My car will have 22" with triple bypasses so hopefully the 1" less of sidewall will not make it a kidney buster. beer.gif
